CHAPTER EIGHT
LUNCH time came. Excited kaming bumaba papunta sa dining hall. I can already hear the sound of silverwares from the dining hall. The maids are currently preparing our foods.
Pagpasok sa loob ng dining hall, muntik na akong mapamura nang makita ang mga nakahain. I thought this is the compensation!? I am expecting foods that are edible! Why would they serve us grass? Who eats grass for lunch?
"What the hell are these?" Felicity groaned. I can also see frustration on Mafi's face.
"Are we goats now?" She asked with disgust on her tone. I could hear Mr. Williams, the Headmaster's butler. Nakatayo siya sa gilid no'ng pinto. I turned to face him with a brow raised.
"What is this?" I asked him. Everyone turned to me and then to the person I am looking at. Mafi and I could easily detect if there are odd things around. So we noticed him even when the others didn't.
Mr. Williams smiled but it doesn't reached his eyes.
"Kailangan ninyong maging malakas at healthy. You can only eat junk foods during your three no training days. But when you have trainings, you will eat healthy," paliwanag niya.
Ugh! May igaganda pa ba ang araw na ito? Kakasikat pa lang ng araw, pagod na ako. Wala pang alas otso ng umaga, nakipagkalmutan at sabunutan na ako kay Felicity. At ngayon naman, tanghalian tapos walang masarap na pagkain.
"Tsk! Bahala kayo kung ayaw n'yong kumain. Basta ako, gutom ako," Shin exclaimed. He sat on his chair and started eating. When I heard the word "gutom", my tummy grumbled. I don't have a choice then. I unwillingly sat on my seat and started eating too. Soon, all of us are digging into the vegetable feast.
Patatas lang ang gulay na kaya kong kainin. Tapos ang patatas lang dito ay ang isang bowl ng potato salad. Nag-agawan pa kaming dalawa ni Mafi. In the end, naghati na lang kami. Buti na lang talaga may shake na kasama.
"Cheers!" Natutuwang sabi namin ni Mafi sa isa't isa matapos masuka-sukang kainin 'yong aubergine. Pinagtama namin ang baso namin saka uminom. I almost puke at the disgorging taste of it.
"What the? What is this? Cucumber!?" Kung may imamalas pa ang araw na ito, ewan ko na lang. Baka umakyat na lang ako sa sixth floor no'ng main building at tumalon. Pinagtawanan pa ako ni Shin.
"Cucumber shake?" Natatawa niyang sabi. Sumipsip siya sa shake niya at pinanood ko siyang isuka iyon pabalik sa baso. He cursed multiple times as he grab a glass of water.
"Anong flavour?" Natatawa kong tanong. His reaction was priceless. That's the only thing that made me smile today. Ah, and also the egg on my breakfast meal.
"Bitter freaking crop," he answered with disgust and hate. Natawa na ako nang tuluyan. Kapal ng mukha mong tawanan ako ha. In the end, si Mafi lang ang nakakuha ng banana shake. Kingston got ginger, which he still drank. What a courageous young man. Felicity got carrots, not bad but she doesn't wanna drink it. Gio got celery shake. Pinalutang niya ang baso at itinapon ang laman no'n sa malapit na lababo. I'm amazed at how he uses his ability. Bakit hindi na lang gano'n ang ability ko? Ako pa naman ang pinakatamad na mamamayan ng Arinth.
"Please proceed to the study room."
Napatingala kaming lahat sa may intercom bago isa-isang tumayo. Hindi ako nabusog, nakakainis. I can't imagine eating leaves for the whole four days.
Mr. Williams opened the dining hall's double door for us and we went out of that cursed place. Dining halls were meant to be safe havens. But here, they tarnished the great reputation of that place.
