I yawn stretching my arms out and then snuggling up to Shane. We sit quietly watching the credits roll by. "That was nice." I say digging my face into Shane's arm and closing my eyes.
"Mhm." He simply answers. "Uh, Shane?" I ask looking up at him. He looks down waiting for me to go on. "Well, I was thinking about the engagement." He stiffens and looks down at me with worry in his eyes. "Nothing bad. I was just think about it." I try to comfort him slightly. He sinks back into the couch slightly sighing. "Ok, um, what about it?"
"I've never met your parents." I rush out gauging his reaction. He sighs heavily again. "Jesus, that's it. You had me really worried."
I groan, "Well I am really worried." He rolls his eyes pulling me closer to him and kissing the top of my head. "My mom will love you, I promise."
I close my eyes sighing, "I want to meet her." I rush out again. "You already established that, babe." Shane says getting up taking our empty food containers to the kitchen.
I jump up following him, "No, I mean like soon. Maybe even this week." I trail off looking at the floor. He turns around to face me with his eyebrows furrowed. He puts the empty containers down and walks forward stopping in front of me; tilting my head up. He wraps his arms around my waist resting both hands on the small of my back; pulling me forward.
I look nervously up at him bitting on my lip. He sighs leaning his forehead against mine. "Alright."
I smile widely, "Yes?" I ask to confirm. "Yes." He opens his eyes smiling softly and kisses my nose.
I squeal, "Thank you." He releases me and I jump onto the counter watching him wonder around his kitchen. "What day do you want to go?" I ask.
He walks back to the couch and I follow. "Friday."
"That's only in a couple days." I say slightly worried. "You said you wanted to go soon." He says smirking. I plop down onto the couch next to him, "True, I did. Alright I'll need to get a plane ticket and tell Athena and make sure I have all my homework done and pack and-"
"Babe." Shane interrupts me. I turn towards him blushing slightly, "Yeah?" I ask already knowing what he'll say. "Stop stressing." He says just as I expected.
"Easier said than done." I murmur under my breath. "Hmm?" Shane hums looking at me. "I said I'm tired." I lie. Well not completely, I am really tired.
"That's not surprising you've had a long night. C'mon." He says getting up and walking towards the back. I stand up stretching. "Where are you going?" I ask confused.
"Going to the bedroom?" He replies confused. "I'm not staying over." I say like it's obvious.
He drops his shoulders in disappointment, "Why?" I sigh looking at his best attempt to make puppy eyes. "Because I need to tell Athena about going to California. Plus I haven't seen her in forever." I answer trying not to give into him.
"But Athena and Ben are on a date." He says proud that he found a reason for me to stay. "How did you know about that?" I ask a little taken a back by his knowledge. He looks away, "Uh, it's a long story." He says looking flustered.
"I've got time." I cross my arms; my eyebrows still furrowed. He looks up, "It's nothing bad. I didn't like plant cameras in your house or anything. I actually text Ben. A lot."
"What? Why?" I laugh slightly. "Well I got his number to make sure he wasn't up to anything fishy like secretly trying to sleep with you. So it started out with me telling him to back off and he told me he only likes you as a friend and nothing more. I asked him if he was sure and he said the only girl he loves is Athena. And our friendship just grew after that."
I smile widely and giggle. "What?" He asks his eyes widening as I continue to giggle. "He said he loves Athena." I say excitedly.
"Yeah, but you can't tell her that. I wasn't even supposed to tell you."
"Why?" I ask acting hurt. "Because you and Athena tell each other everything and we knew if I told you that it'd somehow get to Athena."
I roll my eyes, "I can keep secrets from Athena."
"Really? When was the last time you kept a secret from her?" I squint my eyes.
"Ninth grade- ok I see your point." Shane laughs, "So are you staying or not?" I drop my head and close my eyes. I sigh, "Yeah, I guess." Shane smirks, "I knew you would."
I roll my eyes; groaning, "The only reason I'm staying is because I don't want to ruin Athena's night."
Shane pouts and wraps his arms around my neck pulling me closer to him. "That's the only reason?" I smirk up at him, "mhmm."
He starts kissing down my neck, "You sure there's not another reason?" He asks in between kisses.
"Y-Yes." I stutter out closing my eyes and dropping my head to the side letting him kiss more of my neck. He suddenly pulls back making me whine from lack of contact. "Well if that's the only reason then I guess you don't want me to kiss you." He lets go of me and walks back a little. "Or for me to hold you."
I pout looking up at him, "But." I try to respond. "No kisses." He says in a sing-song type voice.
I walk forward and wrap my arms around his waist pulling him to me. "But I love you." I whine sounding like a five year old. He laughs and pushes us toward the couch. The back of my knees hit the couch causing me to fall back. He lands on top of me and I giggle as his quiff deflates a little.
He chuckles slightly and looks at me his smile slightly falling as his faces inches closer to mine. "What's wrong?" I whisper.
His hand comes up and he brushes his thumb along my cheekbone before tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "You're beautiful." I blush looking away.
His thumb guides my head towards him until I'm looking at him again. "Don't look away. It's true." I lean forward making our lips touch gently. He leans back, "I love you." He says quietly before leaning back in and pushing me back further into the couch.
