Violet's POV
I run through the parking lot and push through the doors. I smile at the passing people as I run down the hallway. I really hope he's here or I'm going to feel really stupid.
I finally get to the door and rest my hand on the door knob catching my breath. I close my eyes and bite my lip while opening the door. I breathe a sigh of relief when I see him scribbling away on some paper. Shane snaps his head up and immediately clinches his jaw.
His eyes fall back on the paper. "Shane-" I try to speak, but he cuts me off. Like he always seems to be doing. Never letting me explain myself. I groan once he starts his interruption. "How did you find me?" His voice is scarily monotoned and he never breaks eye contact with the paper.
"Shane," my voice shakes. I hate feeling like this. He's making me feel guilty even though I didn't even do anything. "I swear what you saw is not what you think it was." He sits the pen down loudly on the desk. "How did you find me?" He repeats slowly. I gulp, "I heard you shuffling paper in the background of our brief phone call and I know you work when you get stressed." I say gesturing towards the papers. "You got a ninety-seven." He says handing a paper over, but still not looking up. "What?" I say almost laughing. "The quiz you got a ninety-seven. That's what you're here for since your just my student, right." My lip quivers as I try to find my words again. I snatch the paper from his hand and crumble it up throwing it at him. That finally gets his attention as he looks up at me with dead eyes. "What the hell, Shane?" He raises his eyebrow at me as if to say, what?
"I can't- I can't believe you right now!" I pull at my hair. "What? You obviously just wanted a good grade in my class considering you woke up with me this morning and your already off cuddling with another guy." He spins his chair around until it's facing me and crosses his arms. "You were probably planning on doing more. Sorry I ruined your plans of getting into someone else's pants." My mouth falls open from his harsh words. "Why would you think that?" My voice cracks as I breathe in shakily. I can already feel my eyes starting to gloss over. He rolls his eyes, "Because it's obviously true. I was just stupid enough to think you actually liked me." I stand there and manage to stutter out, "That's-that's not true." He stands up and I look up at him. My hands start shaking as he looks down at me with a judgmental look on his face. "Get out." He softly says looking away. I blink rapidly and reach for his hand, but he pulls it away.
I look up at him shocked by his resistance. "I-" I start talking softly trying to find words. I've always hated confrontation. My feelings suddenly begin to flow through my body and I can't stop the over powering sense of guiltiness, anger, and humiliation. "I can't even believe you right now!" I scream at him causing him to take a step back. "How do you even have the nerve to say that to me! I've sat by your side while you cried. I'm risking my whole college scholarship for you. For us. If I got caught I could get kicked out of college and have on my permanent record that I 'slept with my teachers.' After seeing that, no college would accept me. They would just think that I'm some kind of slut that gets in her teacher's pants to get an A. Do you know what hurts the most? It's that you, out of all people, think that. That I'm just pretending to like you to get a good grade! No Shane! This isn't pretending this is me genuinely liking you. In fact I don't just like you, I fucking love you!"
Tears are rolling down my cheeks by the time I'm done. My throat hurts and my eyes are already starting to swell. I know I look like a complete mess. I step back looking at the ground shaking my head viciously and wiping at my face.
"God, your being such an asshole, but I still love you." I laugh bitterly looking up at him. He's staring at me wide eyed and has lost all tension in his body. He looks shocked and confused? Great, now he thinks I'm crazy, perfect. He gulps and licks his lips, "Violet, I had no idea how you feel, but why were you snuggled up with that guy-" I stomp my foot like a child and cross my arms. "For God's sake Shane, I was tired because we were working on a project together, he's a friend. Plus I'm pretty sure Athena has a huge crush on him. So why would I hit on someone that she likes? That's basically breaking the girl code." He laughs as I say the last part matter-of-factly.
He steps forward and grabs my waist pulling me forward. "Baby, stop crying." He wipes my cheek with his thumb. I look up at him teary eyed, "But you hate me." I say pathetically, another tear escaping. His face falls and he looks incredibly sad. "I don't hate you." He whispers. He kisses my cheek where the tears in traveling down. He moves down until his lips hover over mine. "Quite the contrary, I love you." He crashes his lips into mine and I smile into the kiss.
His hands go to the small of my back before going to the top of my thigh and pulling forward and upward. I jump wrapping my legs around him. He turns around walking into his back office before shutting the door behind him with his foot. "Wouldn't want someone to walk in on us, right?" He nudges my head to the side exposing my neck. He kisses down it before kissing to my collarbone.
I'm suddenly not in his arms and I hit his couch. I let out a little scream and breathe out a long breath, "I thought you dropped me." I say as he puts his hands on either side of my head kissing up my neck while separating my legs to sit in between them. "Nope," he smirks onto my neck and sucks lightly. "Never going to drop you or hurt you, because you'll always be safe with me."
