I wake up as I feel someone gently rubbing my arm. I snuggle closer to the person underneath me. I hesitate slightly when I remember it's Shane, but I ignore it because I'm tired and he's comfortable. "Baby you need to get up it's seven o'clock already." I yawn "P.M. or A.M.? I ask. " P.M." I smile "Good that means I still get to sleep." He laughs and starts rubbing my arm again. This time my sleeve comes up a bit and I feel him tense. "Why is there bruises on your arm." He tries to remain calm but I can tell he's extremely worried.

My eyes open looking up at him slightly. His eyes flicker from my arm to my eyes worry spreading across his face. I nuzzle my face back into his shirt announcing that "I'm going back to sleep." He gently pulls my chin upward so I could look at him again. "Violet," he says softly but sternly. "Ashley" I quickly mumble with an edge in my voice. I keep eye contact with him as emotions flash through his eyes. Confusion, hurt, worried, and maybe even a little angry. I break eye contact with him feeling uncomfortable.

I clear my throat and climb off of him. I stand up in front of him looking down. "I should probably get home," I look back up at him as he sits up, "Athena's probably worried." My phone suddenly rings as if on cue. "That's been going off a lot while you slept." Shane mutters quietly as I grab my phone off his desk. Sure enough Athena's picture is displayed on my screen. "Hello?" I quickly answer. "Vi, thank God, are you OK? Where are you? Do you need me to pick you up?" "Athena, calm down. I'm fine I'm at school with Shane still," I say laughing slightly. "Oh?" She sounds like she's trying to suppress a laugh. "Whatcha been doing." I blush just from the thought as I glance at Shane. He's smirking looking at me knowingly. Shit did he hear what she said and can he see me blushing? "Not like that, Athena," I whisper into the phone. "Mmk, well I just wanted to make sure you were OK." I tell her that I'm fine and that'll I'll be home soon. We exchange goodbyes and hang up.

"Athena?" Shane asks as I look up. I nod looking for my book bag. "Oh right, your book bag." He walks out into the classroom and I follow looking down at my feet. "Here you go," he says as he hands me my book bag. I look up at up giving him a small smile. "Thanks." I start to walk away, but I stop as I feel him touch my arm. "Vi, I'm going to make sure that Ashley doesn't hurt you again, OK?" He pauses waiting for a response so I just nod. "And, please, don't try to hide your emotions. Don't feel like you have to hold back around me." I just blink trying to take in all he's just said. I eventually nod and reply with a meek, "OK."

We hug and say goodbye as we walk out of the building awkwardly. I jump in my car wanting to just get home. I drive for about ten minutes, get stuck in traffic for about twenty minutes, and then finally make it back to the apartment fifteen minutes later. I grab my book bag out of my car and run up the stairs. I'm still slightly paranoid by the creep down the hallway. I quickly open the door and drop my book bag by the door. "Welcome home. Have fun with, Shane?" Athena merrily says smiling at me. "I told you it wasn't like that." I whine. Her smile drops as she approaches me. "Have you been crying?" She says suddenly serious. "Is it that noticeable?" She gives me a sympathetic smile urging me to go on. "Long story short a girl was being really annoying and rude and pushed me out of my chair. Now my arm and hip hurt and are probably bruised. Plus Shane is making my emotions confused." I rush the words all together making it sound like one long sentence. "So basically what your telling me is I need to kick someone's ass?" She says looking dead serious. I laugh, "If I wasn't worried about getting both of kicked out of school for that then I would probably say yes, but you and I both need educations so the answer is no." She smiles again, "Well if I need to have a "talk" with someone just let me know, OK?" I roll my eyes, "Sure."

The next day was as boring as it usually is. I talked to the guy in biology again and discovered his name was Ben. He's got longish brown hair and dark brown eyes. I noticed today that he's got gages, but not very big. We exchanged glances each time the teacher said something stupid and I had to bite my lip to stop from laughing each time he made a face at the teacher. We groaned as she assigned a project, but luckily we can work in partners. So Ben and I both agreed to work together.

The rest of the day was boring, but by the time I got to Literature I was nervous. I can't stop thinking and worrying about what Ashley's going to do today. I know Shane said he would protect me, but really what can he do? I walk in nervously glancing over at Shane. I surprise him and myself by walking over to his desk. "Hey," he greets. I'm about to say something, but before I can I hear heels annoyingly clicking against the floor and gum being popped. "Mr. Dawson," I'm pushed out the way stumbling a little, "I don't understand this assignment. Can you help me?" He looks at her blinking and then looking over to me as if to ask "Are you OK?" I nod and he gives me a sympathetic smile as I walk away.

The bell rings and I zone out once Shane starts teaching a subject that teacher's have drilled dozens of times before. He hands out a paper for us to complete and about five minutes later he asks for our attention. "I'm going to go do something for about fifteen minutes. Do you think you guys can handle yourself for that long?" He immediately makes eye contact with me. I nod and cock my head towards the door. Everyone else mumbles a yes and he walks over to the door, looks over at me one more times, and walks out. An unsettling feeling sets in my stomach right when the door shuts. The universe seems to acknowledge the feeling in my stomach when I feel my desk being kicked forward and I fall out of my desk landing on my butt. I look up to see Ashley towering over me as I cower back in fear.
