I open my eyes letting a deep breath out as I hear Shane open his car door. I step out of the car and go to the trunk grabbing my suitcase.
I'm still facing the car as I hear a door swing open and a high pitched squeal. I look over to see a middle aged women with reddish hair fleeing from her front porch. She runs over to Shane almost tackling him as she squeezes and hugs him.
"It's so good to see you. Look at your hair, oh my, you look so grown up." Shane's mom looks up at him with pride shining in her eyes before Shane clears his throat.
"Mom, there's some one I want you to meet. This is Violet." He steps to the side and reveals my nervous, slightly shaking, form behind him. She smiles lightly as she walks towards me. I extend my hand, but immediately pull it back as she embraces me in a tight hug.
"It's so good to meet you. Shane talks about you so much." I give her a small smile, "It's nice to meet you too. I wish I could've met you sooner."
She frowns slightly, "Are you alright? You look a little pale. Do you have a fever?" She places the back of her hand on my forehead.
"She's nervous." Shane answers for me. She laughs lightly, "I'm not that scary, am I? Trust me, I'm not going to be a monster-in-law." I smile at her kindness before it drops from realization. I look over at Shane, "You already told us that we're engaged?" I whisper/yell at him. Teresa gives Shane a big smile, "You're engaged?!" She asks excitedly. My mouth drops open as I look between Shane and his mom. They look at each other before breaking into loud laughter.
"He already told me, sweetie. I'm just messing with you." I sigh after a few moments of realization. "Oh my god." I say under my breath. She lets out another laugh before grabbing my bag and motioning for us to come inside.
We talk for a while before Shane tells her about our long flight and she quickly tells us to get some rest.

I pull on a long t-shirt with my home town's logo on it and crawl into bed. Shane silently gets in as well turning off the lamp and pulling the sheets up.
I roll over onto my side facing him. I lean forward bumping his nose with mine. He opens one eye, "I thought we were supposed to be sleeping."
I gasp, "So that's what we're doing. I thought we were going skiing." He rolls his eyes sticking his tongue out. "Ha ha, your sarcasm fills me with joy." I smirk closing my eyes.
"So do you want to do that sleeping thing that you were talking about?" He breathes out a light laugh, "Sure." I laugh under my breath as well before snuggling into his side and falling into a deep sleep.

Shane and I walk hand in hand down the street slowly. I stare at our surroundings taking in the beautiful sights. "The restaurant I want to eat at is right up here." I nod smiling up at him.
We walk for five more minutes before coming to a small simple restaurant. We are seated immediately after we walk in and our drink orders are taken up.
Shane opens his mouth to say something, but another voice interrupts him.
"Violet?" I turn around to face the source of the voice. I feel my face pale as I quickly turn back around ignoring the person. Shane furrows his eyebrows cocking his head, "Who's that?" He mouths.
I hear a chair scrape against the floor and the unwanted man is suddenly standing beside me.
"Violet, is that you? I haven't seen you in ages." I look up at him putting on a fake smile. "It's nice to see you too, Hayden." I cringe slightly as his name comes out of my mouth.
Shane looks at me and then Hayden. "Uh, I'm sorry, who are you?" Shane asks in a rough voice. Hayden suddenly looks at him as if just realizing he was here.
"Hayden's my ex-boyfriend from high school." Hayden smirks down at us in satisfaction, "And who are you?"
Shane narrows his eyes, "I'm her current boyfriend." They stare at each other maliciously while I awkwardly sit there. "Well, um, it was nice seeing you." I smile nervously at him.
He continues staring at Shane before shifting his gaze to me. He stares at me strangely almost lustfully. Shane's clears his throat making it sound like a growl. "That means shoo, leave, adiós." Shane says while waving his hand in a shooing motion. Hayden gives him a quick fake smile before looking back at me.
"It was nice seeing you again, babe." He leans down and kisses my cheek before sauntering off. I look over to see Shane clenching his jaw and hand. He goes to stand up, but I reach across putting my hand on his shoulder. "Shane, don't." He groans grinding his teeth, "Fine."
I smile slightly, "Our food's here, let's just have a peaceful lunch."
We eat in silence for a few minutes before Shane breaks the silence, "Why is he even in California?" Shane asks in a irritated tone. I look up sighing at his pout. "He moved up here when I moved to New York. That's why we broke up." He squints at something over my shoulder making me turn around. Hayden makes eye contact with me and smirks as his eyes roam up and down my body.
"I swear to god, I'm going to kill him." Shane grips the table tightly as he speaks making his knuckles turn white. "Let's just pay for the damn food and leave." I grumble pushing my plate back.
Shane looks up at me and sighs. "No, just come sit next to me." I scrunch my face up in confusion, "What?" He pats the seat motioning towards it. I drop my shoulders, "Ok..."
I stand up and sit down next to him. "Come on," Shane mumbles as he puts his arm around me and pulls me closer to him.
"Woah, there. What are you doing?" I ask as his hand slides up my thigh. He smirks staring across the room. "Nothing, what about you?" I put my hand on his stopping him from moving it further up. "Answering a question with a question, cute." I remark sarcastically.
I look up again to find him still smirking across the room. I follow his path of eye contact to see Hayden staring at us. Hayden squints at Shane's hand on my thigh. "You're trying to make him jealous, aren't you?" He opens his mouth to argue back, but I kiss him stopping him from speaking. I lean back slightly looking into his eyes which are now a deep grayish color.
"If you're trying to make him jealous you need to try harder than that." He lets out a long breath before resting his hand on my jaw and pulling me into him. He gently and deeply kisses me while resting his other hand on the small of my back.
His hand slowly moves down my back until it reaches my hip. He squeezes it while pulling me towards him more. I moan quietly into his mouth before I hear a chair being pulled back suddenly and footsteps stumping out the door. I look over my shoulder to see the door being slammed and Hayden no where to be seen.
"Come on let's go." Shane says smiling in success. I smile giving him one more small quick kiss on the cheek before we pay for lunch and leave.
So there was only supposed to be 50 chapters, but that's obviously not happening. Expect more chapters this week.
