Athena's pov

"Stop saying sorry, Athena." Aaron said firmly, as I apologized for what might've been the 8th time in the past few minutes.

"I'm sorry, I just- I didn't know what to do. I didn't think it would mess with me this much." I instantly regretted my last few words knowing Aaron was about ask questions that I wasn't sure I was ready to answer.

I didn't know if I was going to tell him about the bracelet yet, it would make this all real. There's no way it was really my sister's...right?

"Thea, what are you talking about?" He asked. "Nothing, I just um- I need to go." I said, embarrassingly wiping my tears from my face. It's honestly pathetic how much I've cried today.

I felt a hand grab my wrist to stop me, "Athena seriously, just tell me what's going on maybe I can help." Aaron pleaded.

I offered a dry laugh, "you can't." I needed to stop running to him for help. I needed to rid myself of this emotional, depressed girl that's been plaguing me the past few months.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as the world around me seemed to disappear.

"Please Thea, you're obviously lying, just tell me what's got you like this." He asked again, "Aaron, please can you just let this go for a while I need to figure it out...alone, okay?"

His green eyes looked almost hurt, as if my words cut him deeper than I meant them to. Still, he nodded and let me go.

I made my way downstairs, calling our family driver. Even though I wasn't drunk, I was too distracted to be driving myself.

Micheal got to Owen's in less than 5 minutes and I thankfully hadn't run into Wren. It would've been much harder to get out of telling her and hopefully the stuff with Aaron would blow over by tomorrow.

As the bell rang, I mentally prepared for Wren's undoubtedly large number of questions. This was my only class with both Wren and Aaron, I was in for long day.

"Athena, what the hell is wrong with you? You haven't answered my texts or calls since last Friday!" And so the interrogation begins.

"Wren it's nothing, I really am sorry I didn't call you back I just got...busy." I said, placing my books on the desk and sitting down.

"Busy?! Are you kidding? Thea that's not cool, I thought you were going to fucking," wren made a clicking sound with her tongue and made a hand gesture that looked a lot like she was slicing her throat with her hand.

With her standing in front of my desk I asked, "You what? Why would you think I was going to off myself?" I questioned. "Well you weren't answering texts and you've been avoiding Aaron too, plus you've been a little off. I don't know I was just worried." She said, hugging me as her anger subsided.

"Are you okay?" She asked. "I'm fine I just needed some space from everyone you know?" With that she nodded and made her way to the seat next to me.

Our friendship was always pretty easy, we were always there for each other, no questions asked. But I could tell she wanted to know more.

As class went on, Wren and I seemed to fall back into our usual rhythm. I couldn't say the same for Aaron and I though, he had come late and got a seat towards the back of the room.

We hadn't spoken since Owen's party but I didn't exactly know how to tell him about whole Lilith situation.

"Why don't you just talk instead of staring at him the whole class period?" Wren snapped me out of my thought. "I will but I just-" I was interrupted by the sudden flood of officers entering the room. Officers?

My heart dropped as everyone's eyes scanned the room to see who they were here for, but something doesn't feel right.

The three large men stood around 6 feet tall and were built as if they went to the gym religiously.

After speaking to our teacher for a few seconds, they turned and began walking my way. Oh god I feel sick.

I tensed as one of the officers touched my shoulder and explained that they needed to speak to me...urgently.

With shaky breaths I grabbed my bags and my eyes drifted to Aaron's. I had never seen him look so worried.

Following the officers, we ended up outside the main building and they explained that I wasn't necessarily in trouble but they wanted to ask a few questions.

Questions about what? I had already told them everything I knew from the accident. It doesn't make any sense.

"Miss Cadman, I want you to answer as honestly as possible, okay?" I nodded in response to the officer's question as my anxiety grew.

"Have you received any of Lilith Ann Cadman's belongings?" He asked.
I held my breath in shock. How did he know about the bracelet? Why do they want to know? Should I tell them?

I decided not to until I really knew what was going on, "Um...no, no I haven't, why?" I asked.

"Well, We've been looking over your case and found that some of your sisters belongings weren't accounted for and we had received a tip that you might have come into contact with them." He said.

What did he mean they weren't accounted for? From what I was told Lilith's body was unidentifiable and so they hadn't obtained any of her stuff in the first place.

Why was he acting like they had lost something?
It doesn't make any sense.

"Sir, may I ask you something?" I questioned. He nodded in response, " why are you guys so worried over the belongings of a dead girl?" I asked.

They looked a little shocked by my abrupt wording, but finally one of them stepped up, "Well, see that is what we are investigating." He said.

He must've seen the confused look on my face and continued, "because your sister's body was never actually seen at the accident site-" I quickly interrupted him, "what do you mean wasn't actually seen?" I asked.

He looked confused as to why I was asking, was I missing something? "Well, we had informed Mr. and Mrs. Cadman about the issue while you were in the hospital recovering but we assumed they had told you when you woke up." He explained.
"Told me what?" I impatiently asked. "Well, when ambulances and police officers arrived to the scene, Lilith was never spotted. It was only you who was found in the car...alone. But with the severity of the accident, after 72 hours she was presumed dead."

"You mean no one ever found her body?" I said barely catching a breath. "No, we never found her body, recently though there have been developments in her case but this past week a bracelet of hers that we were holding was stolen." He explained.

Oh my god. Oh. My. God.
She might be alive?
And my parents knew, they knew and they didn't tell me?!

"Can I ask you some thing, sir?" I asked in a shaky voice. "Do you um...do you think she's alive?" I questioned, not knowing if I really wanted to hear the answer.

After The officers glanced at each other deciding whether or not to answer my question. The man standing in front of me said the words I never thought imaginable.

"Yes, we have reason to believe she is."
