After standing in the middle of the room for a moment you walked and sat on the couch by the window, wanting to watch the outside world. Sometime during your shower it started to rain down over the city, a melancholy haze drifting through the air and tangling itself in the pouring rain. You found yourself once again with your legs pulled up to your chest as you stared out the slightly fogged up window.

It was odd how many thoughts were racing through your brain and yet you felt so empty. Thinking of everything and nothing at the exact same time.

For the second time today a knock drifted through the quiet room, you tore your gaze from the outside world and to the door on the other side of the room. Once again the blonde nurse, Tessa if you remember correctly walked in. A sweet smile on her face as she noticed you on the couch- she was glad you were up and moving. "Hello," she said softly, her smile widening gently and you could see the smallest of dimples indented on the sides of her rosy cheeks as she did so.

"I know how cold it gets sometimes in here so I wanted to bring you a pair of fuzzy socks and extra blankets." Her southern accent drawled out as she raised the things in her hands to show you. Stacked on top of one another were two blankets folded gently and on the top of them were a pair of fuzzy blue socks. She moved to place them on the table next to the couch, you followed her with your eyes closely.

"Is there anything you need? Water? Food?" Tessa was very sweet and attentive, nervously you bit at your bottom lip as you thought for a moment. You didn't feel hungry, and you were afraid to eat- afraid you wouldn't be able to keep anything solid down. "Water please?" You finally spoke for the first time in a few hours, she nodded at your request, moving to leave the room.

Tessa stopped at the door, hovering over the handle before she turned to look at you once more, you never shifted your gaze from her. She smiled at you before leaving the room.

As she opened the door you craned your neck to see if you could see out the door, but you didn't get a glimpse of anything other then the wall outside the room.

You wondered how easy it would be for you to just sneak out. Would it be worth it? You hadn't figured out if you felt like being here was a threat on your life. You knew utterly nothing, the last thing you remembered was it being 1946 and now it was suddenly seven decades had passed leaving you stuck in 2021. It all felt like a horrible nightmare.

You wanted to go back home, not be here in this new modern world. Sure back then you were alone, but you were in a place that was familiar and something you could call your own, your house wasn't much. It was small, the wallpaper was peeling and the floors didn't match. The furniture was at the point of one wrong look and it would fall apart. But it was home. And gosh did you miss that.

You wrack your fingers through your hair, pushing it back as you tilt your head up to the ceiling. Blinking once, twice, three times before the door opened once more and in walked nurse Tessa, a plastic water container held in her hands. The nurse placed said container on the table next to the extra blankets and socks that were there.

"Thank you." You told her quietly.

Tessa stared at you, her gaze wasn't harsh, it was gentle. But you could tell that she held pity in her eyes. Awkwardly you smiled at her, it was a tight lipped smile. At that smile she soon snapped out of it, nodding before leaving for a third time.

Once she was gone you leaned over to the table that was beside the couch, reaching out to run your fingers over the fuzziness of the dusty blue socks. You wrapped your hand around them, picking them up before you put them on.

When you had them on you couldn't help but wiggle your toes ever so, who knew socks this fuzzy could bring a small amount of joy and warmth- not just the physical kind also. After the socks were on you then grabbed the water, your throat felt scratchy and dry.
