Today marked twenty days since my parents should have been back from their journey.

I knew they were adventurous, especially my dad, Avenmor, but being high elves in Rivendell, they couldn't set out as much as they liked, so they then reserved a month.

A whole month away from me, their daughter, Avriel.

I couldn't join them because of multiple reasons and duties I had already planned, as I was a grown elf now.
Well, to be fair, I had turned 2,777 this year, and I was the same age as the daughter of Lord Elrond, the ruler of Rivendell. Arwen and I both became close, growing up together, as our parents were both in the council together. I was also close to her older brothers, Elladan and Elrohir, though they were nothing more than brothers in my eyes, as much as they tried to flatter me every time I saw them.

I had seen things and been places in my long lifetime, but still, most of that time I spent in Rivendell, just as any other elf would in peace, but rumors had been growing that the darkness had awakened.

Rumors had said that Sauron had returned.

It was said that he was now looking for a weapon. A lost weapon, which one of the new residents of Rivendell had once beheld.

Bilbo Baggins.

He came to Rivendell a few years ago, and Arwen and I had grown rather fond of him, and his adventurous stories.

Anyways, he no longer had the weapon any longer, which was revealed to be a ring. The one ring, that rules all.

All of this information made me scared for my parents' life as today was the day a group of elves would come back from their search of my parents. They had set out four days after the day my parents were set to arrive, which seemed much too late to me, but I, as well, did not worry much until the second and third days after they were not seen. They missed a few duties, which I helped with some of the time, and it kept me busy as I waited for them to come back.

They had to come back.

"Avriel," I heard someone call me.

"Arwen," I greeted her, walking over to her, snapping out of my thoughts.

"Father says Glorfindel and Gildor will be arriving soon," She said, making me freeze.

"Will they?" I exclaimed aloud.

"Indeed, it is the fourteenth day since they departed, but I assume you have already known this," She said, looking at me with a gleam in her eyes.
