I knocked on the door and headed in when he said come in. He was sat behind his desk as always. He had his glasses on and was surrounded by papers.
"Hello father. You said you needed me?" He glanced up and smiled a small bit.
"Yes. I'd say we need to finish our earlier conversation but we have different issues. I want you to look at this." He hands me a random spreadsheet with a bunch of numbers, "I want you to analyze this for me. I know you have questions but I'm just curious so humor me."
I looked closer and it looked like a business proposition. The company who made the proposal, let's call them company A, is asking for way too much. It wouldn't be worth it. They don't make enough money to even touch company B. It would be a one sided deal that would end up giving company A more money than it's worth. Company A is on a downward spiral and is apparently asking everyone to be business partners. They're even asking our rival companies. This is a stupid deal and that's exactly what I told my father.
"This is a stupid deal and company B shouldn't even considering accepting. Company A has asked everyone including company B's rival companies and company A is on a downward spiral. It would only make company B lose money." I gave him back the papers and he gave me a full genuine smile, "Why did you show me this?"
"Because my dear. This was a new proposal that came in a few days ago. The council is split about it. Some say it's a good idea because we could show up our rivals by accepting it and taking it over." I just frown at him as he looks at me with a calculating look.
"I mean no offense father and excuse my language but that's fucking stupid." I could see him glare at me a bit but he had a smirk, "Their company is losing money left and right. They'll be out of business in a few years. It'd just put our company in jeopardy by wasting that much money for a company that's going to fail anyway."
"And you're completely correct which is why we're rejecting the offer in a few minutes." I hear his phone ring and try to leave but he just waves his finger and points to a chair next to him and tells me to sit, "Hello gentleman and hello Mr.Sanchez. We're here to talk about that business proposal."
"Ah yes. I believe it'll be beneficial to your company in the end. It may seem like taking a big risk but I can promise it'll be better for you in the long run." I couldn't help but scoff at his stupid words and my dad gave me a small smirk.
"Well. I've talked to the council but I got my final opinion today from a trusted source." I just stared at him like he was crazy.
"Oh? Who might this trusted source be? He must be amazing if you trust him so much." I again scoffed at his words. Why does he immediately suspect it's a male?
"Well. Actually. It was my daughter." Again I just stared at him like he was crazy but this time I hung my mouth and stared at him in disbelief.
I hear Mr.Sanchez just laugh, "Ah Richard your jokes are amazing." He laughed a bit more. I gave my dad a look and he just nodded at me so I began talking.
"Hello Mr.Sanchez. Can you hear me?" Silence. I could see his face right now and it made me just smirk at my dad, "I'll take that as a yes. Now, your company is on a downward spiral. You're desperate for founding but you won't be able to pay that back for years and that's if you don't go out of business. I also looked this over and it seems that you've made this same proposal to our rival companies. I hope you can see how this is like a stab in the back. You can't do that. If you truly wanted us for our partnership than you would've fully committed to our company. It's right here in writing that you only want is for our money. Therefore we reject your proposal. I turn this to the council to see if they have any different opinions." Again, silence. I look at my dad and all I see in his eyes is delight.
I hear a few people clear their throats before my dad starts speaking, "Well you heard the woman. That about sums up everything. Thank you Mr.Sanchez for the thought but that's all. We will not be doing business with you ever. Thank you for your time. Council thank you for your help. That'll be all. Have a good day gentleman. You have tomorrow off so have a good long weekend." He hung up the phone before staring at me, "Aryanna. I won't have any more children. You two girls are all I have. I need someone to hand the company down to. I could hand it down to my Co-owner but he's as old as I am. I won't hand it down to your sister because, well, she's a dunce." I laughed out loud and so did he.
"Are you sure about this? Where did this even come from? I have no experience running a company. Hell I can't even manage my own money." He stared into my eyes and glared at me.
"Aryanna, I'm not stupid. I've kept tabs on you ever since you got a job at the coffee shop. I know you help Sue with the paperwork and managing the money. Sue is an amazing women and talks very highly of you. I can tell when you lie. I know you lied about spending all of your money on a dress. That's just not you." I stare at him dumbfounded. There's no way. He never pays attention to me, "I have a business partner coming Saturday. Your sister and mother believe it is going to be a marriage proposal. It's more so to see what you can do is the spur of the moment. The business proposal will be between you and him. I'm just a overseer."
"You've got to be fucking kidding me." He gave me a hard glare, "Sorry but dad there's no way. I can't." Even if he does believe in me, mom and Lexi will fucking kill me.
"I'm not kidding. You will do this. End of discussion. I know you can do it. I've called you out of work tomorrow. You can do whatever you want for the day just don't stress. Hangout with Anna. I know you hangout with her after work." He's crazy. He's gone crazy.
"Are you ok? Did you hit your head or something?" He gave me a small chuckle.
"No I'm fine. Now go call Anna and plan a day out. You deserve it." After that he kicked me out of his office leaving me in the hallway pinching myself to see if I'm dreaming. Sadly I'm very much awake. I head to my room and watch TV. Saturday is going to be a VERY long day.
