Y/N'S POV
I change into my regular clothes and grab my phone, I notice an unread text from my girlfriend and open it
A: I have an emergency surgery that will take at least 6 hours, maybe more, so I'll probably crash here after I finish. Love you baby <3
I put my phone in my pocket and let out a sigh
"Something wrong?"
I look at Maggie and let out another sigh
"It's Amelia...she's been acting weird all week..."
"Yeah, I noticed...do you think something happened?"
"I don't know but I'm getting worried...I- I think she's avoiding me and I hate not knowing why"
A tear slides down my cheek and Maggie pulls me into a hug
"Shh, it's going to be ok"

I open the door and look at the Italian resident
"You paged me?"
"I did, doctor Y/l/n. I wanted you to take a look at this scans" he says
I nod and look at them, they show a tumor in the frontal lobe
"I assume this is one of doctor Shepherd's patients"
"Sort of"
"What do you mean sort of?" I ask him
"What I mean is-"
"DELUCA!"
We both turn our heads towards the entrance of the room and see Amelia
"What are you doing?"
"I was just showing doctor Y/l/n-"
"I told you I would handle this situation by myself" the neurosurgeon says
"It's been a week"
What are they talking about?
"Deluca...I need time"
"Hey, hey, both of you calm down...what's going on?"
I go towards Amelia but she doesn't say anything
"Is it about the scans?"
I look at them again and furrow my eyebrows when I see what's written on the top left
"Hey, why's your name on the scans?"
Amelia doesn't answer and looks at the floor, a few seconds later realization hits me like a truck and I let out a gasp
No...this can't be right
"P-please...tell me that it's not what I think it is..." I say in a pleading voice
When neither of them say anything I run out of the room
AMELIA'S POV
"Great...just great"
I look at my resident and cross my arms
"I specifically told you to not tell anyone...why did you show her the scans?"
"She's your girlfriend...she deserved to know"
"I freaking know that! I was trying to find a way to tell her without scaring her"
I let out a sigh and run my fingers through my hair
"I'm gonna go find Y/n"
I go towards our favourite on-call room and knock on the door
"Baby, I know you're in there...please open the door"
A few seconds later the door opens and Y/n wraps her arms around my waist
"T-tell me that it's not t-true" she lets out a sob
"I'm so sorry princess"
She tightens her grip and buries her face in my chest, I start stroking her hair with one hand and rub her back with the other
"It's benign...Koracick said that it's easy to remove and the chances of survival are really high"
"R-really?" she looks at me
I nod and wipe away her tears with my thumb, I cup Y/n's cheeks and kiss her
"Is- is this why you've been acting weird all week?"
I nod again and caress my girlfriend's cheek
"I'm so sorry about that...I needed time to process"
"It's fine"
"Are you sure?"
She smiles and nods
Y/N'S POV
The others and I watch Amelia, Koracick, Deluca and the scrub nurses enter the OR from the gallery. Amelia looks up and does her usual superhero pose, I do the same thing and look at my girlfriend, when I see her sitting on the table I go to the intercom and start speaking
"I love you so much Amy"
"I love you so much too princess"
"I'll see you after surgery"
She blows me a kiss and I catch it, a few tears start sliding down my cheeks and I feel someone's hands on my shoulders
"Let's go get some fresh air" Arizona says
I nod and we go outside

I play with Arizona's fingers trying not to think about my girlfriend lying on an operating table having brain surgery, the blonde haired woman kisses me on the cheek and holds me close to her
"Do you think they're done?" I ask
"I don't know...want me to go check?"
I nod and kiss Arizona's hand, before she can get up we both see Meredith running out of the ER and looking around
"There you are" she says when she sees us
"What happened? Are there complications?"
"No, no. Koracick is done, as soon as he finished closing I run out of the gallery to search you two. Maggie just texted me saying that Amelia is in the ICU"
I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding and hug Meredith

I quickly open my eyes when I feel someone shaking me
"I'm awake. Did something happen?"
I look up and see Arizona smiling, I let out a small gasp when my hand gets squeezed and turn my head, I smile when I see that Amelia is awake and I carefully caress her cheek with my thumb
"Hey"
I kiss the back of her hand and gently squeeze it, a tear slides down my cheek but I quickly wipe it away
Stop crying Y/l/n. Amelia is alive, she's fine
I sit on the chair while Koracick does a quick check up and after he's done I grab my girlfriend's hand again
"I assume you want to stay here tonight so I'm gonna go grab you a blanket" my best friend says
"Thank you Zona"
She kisses me on the cheek and leaves, she comes back a few minutes later and hands me the blanket
"I'll see you tomorrow" the blonde says before leaving
I turn my head to look at Amelia and notice that she fell asleep. I smile and kiss her on the cheek, being careful to not move the tube
"Goodnight Amy, I love you so much"
I sit on the chair, cover myself with the blanket and close my eyes
The episodes about Amelia's tumor were so sad and made me cry
