Turns out having a foster kid is not so easy. Well having a child in general isn't easy. His past life caused him many trust issues so at least once a night we'd hear him simpering in his room because he thought we'd left.
Once again I wake up to JJ crawling out of bed to make sure he's ok. I knew out of everyone JJ knew how he felt best.
JJ goes to the boys room "hey I'm right here, we're not going anywhere" he whispers. Lou gets up and hugs him so JJ picks him up before sitting on his bed.
"we're not gonna leave you, mkay? Cami isn't, and I'm not." he reassures the crying child. JJ reaches his hand to wipe he tears, causing him to flinch.
With a small sympathetic smile he slowly wipes his tears away. "I don't wanna leave here" Louis wrest his head on JJs shoulder.
JJ let's put a loud sigh, there was no promises that he'd be staying. "I know bud" the blonde rubs his back. "I know"
Soon enough the kid falls asleep in JJs arms. JJ lays his him down and tucks him in before returning to our room. "is he ok?" I whisper. "yea, he's fine" JJ whispers back.
He opens his arms for me to cuddle. JJ spoons me, his chest pressed up to my back and his head buried in my neck.
The Next Morning
"I don't wanna go to school" the boy complains while sitting at the table and eating. "tough luck kiddo" JJ chuckles. I watch the two bicker back and fourth for a few minutes.
"Ok go put you're shoes on, you've gotta go." I ruffle his hair. This would be a new school for him so he was obviously nervous. He pouts dramatically but overall goes and puts his shoes on.
The three of us get in the car and drive to our towns school. "I wanna stay with you" he clings to JJ as we stand outside the front office. JJ crouches down.
"you're a big boy right?" he asks. Louis nods slowly. "big boys go to school and babies stay home but you're not a baby right?" the blonde continues.
"no I'm a big kid" he try's to stop his tears. "ok then you're gonna go to school and I'll come pick you up at the end of the day" JJ explains.
Louis hugs him one more time and JJ hugs back. "have a good day" JJ smiles as he follows a teacher to another room.
"is that you JJ?"
The blonde whips around to see one of his old teachers that he remembers giving a hard time. "yeah" he shakes the mans hand.
"look at you all grown up, that's you're son?" he asks. JJ shakes his head with a chuckle "foster, he needed a place to stay for a bit" JJ smiles.
"well I'm glad you're doing ok" the old teacher smiles before walking away. JJ goes back to the car where I was still sitting.
"was he ok?" I ask. "yeah he was ok" JJ leans in and kisses me. Our foreheads press together.
"I'm proud of you Jay" I whisper. "for what?" the blonde asks me.
"everything"
