-42- the plan

I woke up with a pounding headache. The intense throbbing kept me from opening my eyes right away but the second I moved my head, I felt someone shuffling by my side.

"...baby bird? How ya feeling?"

My eyes shot open and I jerked my head towards the sudden voice. I caught eyes with none other than the one and only Takami Keigo.

"K-Keigo?!... you... your wings- uh" I quickly looked over my shoulder to see the crimson wings still squished between me and the hospital bed under me.

"Don't worry... I'll tell you all about it when you're feeling better. Right now you just need to rest. I'll go get the doctor." The blonde walks away from the bedside and exits the room slowly.

He got his wings back but- don't tell me... Eri.

The door flew open aggressively and I wasn't prepared for the sudden movement. It made me jump from my bed.

"Shit! Finally!" The angry, spikey haired blonde I loved so much came barreling into the room.

"Katsu! You're okay! Wait no... stay back! I don't want to-

"Just shut the hell up for a second." He cuts my sentence short and cupped my cheeks with his palms. Leaning in to place his lips onto mine, I could smell that sweet caramel scent coming from his skin.

I was engulfed in this moment. I never wanted it to end.

Only... it did seconds later.

Katsuki didn't drop his hands, instead held them on my face. He continued to look me deep in my eyes until I began to question.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"....I wasn't.... I wasn't sure when you'd wake up."

When I'd wake up?

"Kat, how long have I been here?"

The blonde finally dropped his hands, along with his expression. "Y/n, your abdomen... it needed serious surgery. Since that injury from All For One, your scar tissue hadn't even healed all the way and then you stabbed yourself to save me so it wasn't looking good. The doctors told us to not get our hopes up but I blasted him with an explosion so he'd shut the hell up. I knew you'd be too stubborn to die."

His statement made me chuckle slightly.

I leaned forward and threw my legs over the bedside, feeling the sharp pains coming from all over.

"You didn't answer me..." I stuttered.

"A couple weeks... at least it wasn't three goddamn months." He recoiled.

A couple weeks huh? What happened while I was out?

Keigo made his way back into the room with the doctor and eyed Bakugou harshly. He placed a firm hand on the angry young man's shoulder before looking to me. "You look... weird."

I gasped. "THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN BIRD FACE!!" I shouted, jabbing my finger at his cheek.

"AHAHA I MEAN YOU LOOK WEIRD WITH MY WINGS DUMMY!"

"Yeah well they're mine-" I stopped myself. He was right. They were in fact his wings. I had let myself forget that fact like it was a stranger's birthday.

"Don't sweat it dude..." he walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, embracing my body hard. "....they suit you. Plus we're totally twinning now girl!!!"

I laughed at his idiocy before seeing Katsuki standing behind him. The blonde held an expression that... for once... I could read.

His smile said; I'm happy for him. I'm happy for her. Everything will be okay now.
