-6- Quirk

"Alright y/n, me and momma are going out for the night. Make sure to behave for Ms. Kymondai okay?" My father brushed my cheek lightly with his finger.

"Of course father! Have a good time. I love y'all!" I say to my parents as they walk out the living room towards the front door.

We were living in a modern looking apartment in California, not drawing attention to us whatsoever.

As far as I knew my parents left every night to fight "bad guys" as they would put it. I never asked questions because.... I loved them. I knew what they were doing was good.

I sat down with Ms. Kymondai, who was a friend of my mothers. She was nice and I always loved spending time with her. She had light green hair and beautiful blue eyes. Her quirk is called glow stick, so she can make any part of her body glow very bright.

It wasn't much but Ms. Kym had no intention of using her quirk for anything. She would usually be the one to watch me when mother and father were out.

"Oh wait! Father!" I called out as they were approaching the door. "I'm 5 years old now... so once I get my quirk, could I come with you guys and help fight the bad guys?!?"

My father looked at the excitement on my face and knew exactly what to say. "Sweetheart, once you get your quirk, you can do or be whatever you want in this world. I just want you to be ready that's all. The world is a dangerous place." He cupped my cheek and kissed my forehead.

Before exiting the door he and mother both threw a midnight black cloak on over their heads, and pull up the hoods to hide their identities.

They look so awesome. I'm going to be just like them one day.

Ms. Kym put on my favorite movie and made me my favorite snack. We watched movies for hours, talking about momma and fathers work. "I mean, I know they are villains and I know that's supposed to be bad but momma has never hurt anybody." I mention to Ms. Kym, while she sits on the couch above me, braiding my hair.

"Yes, that's right. I know you worry about them every night. You're a very smart girl for your age n/n (nickname). I can assure you that what they do is to keep you safe." She tells me, making me feel nothing but love.

As It was almost midnight, me and Ms. Kym we're still up, snacking and watching shows. I heard a faint thud come from outside the front door so I jerked my head towards it.

"Everything alright n/n? Did you hear something?" Ms.Kym asks me. I shake my head and start talking about the show.

It starts raining and the sounds of thunder and rumbling are heard from outside.

"Let's play a board game!" I tell her excitedly. She laughs and grips my face with both hands, squeezing to push out my lips. "Are you sure you aren't getting tired kiddo?" I clenched my eyebrows at her. "Of coursh um nawt!" I could barely get the words out so it only made her laugh harder towards my goofiness.

She gets up and walks away to go get a board game or two out of the closet in the hall. I sat waiting patiently, munching on (favorite snack), until I heard a loud screech.

I quickly stood up and ran down the hall, only to be met with a man towering over Ms. Kym. She looked scared, no... terrified.

"HEY! GET AWAY FROM HER!!" I yell towards the man. He turns and starts walking to me smiling an evil grin.

I bolted in the other direction, running to the living room once again. He chased me down the hall and to the front door that I managed to unlock before he yanked me backwards by my hair.

He threw me on to the coffee table and it shattered under my back from the force. The wind was knocked out of me and he bent down to grab my neck but was met with a bat to the back. Ms. Kym didn't hit him hard enough to do any damage though unfortunately.
