GOD'S FAVOURITE

Stark silence.

For the first time, everyone in the room stood with parted lips and wide jaws as they witnessed the scene in front of them.

Matt had been the least reactive to the situation and simply opted to light a fresh cigarette before sinking in his chair to play games on a random phone he had found, the rest of the small gang following suit in attempting to distract themselves from the display.

It wasn't the kiss that caught them off guard, having been ordered to track the girl down they expected their leader to have ulterior motives, but his sudden happiness took them by surprise. From the minute she had walked into the room the blonde's face lit up, the childish glee resembling a child receiving a gift. Itsuko and the other girls stood frozen, eyes darting between Y/N, themselves, and Hatori for some sort of indication on what to do, Ken himself could have had steam flowing from his ears if the visual were possible, but a slight tut from Matt, a warning for him to stay out of it, forced the psychiatrist to watch in absolute fury from his spot.

"Your so beautiful." He murmured into the kiss, frankly, she couldn't tell if he chose to ignore the fact she wasn't reciprocating his affections to lean in and reconnect their lips. "You have no idea how long I've waited for you, I missed you."

Attempting to pull herself away by pushing with her hands on his chest, he seemingly didn't take the hint, arms clinging as if he was cuddling a beloved stuffed animal. "Hatori?" She replied, turning to him to look for some sort of indication of what she should be doing.

"Y/N, this is Mello," Ken spoke through gritted teeth, nodding his head to grant the permission she was asking for. If it were up to anyone else in that room they wouldn't have noticed the bitterness laced in his tone when introducing his patient to the eighteen-year-old, nor the pondering glare that followed. "I've been informed he wants to explain it to you, apparently you two have met."

There were two reasons why her Psychiatrist's statement had to be false, one of them being she had barely left the house as a child leading to a rather isolated life. Living in a home so far away from anyone else didn't make it reasonable that Y/N could go converse with the neighbors and she hadn't attended school so who could she befriend of her age? Even now as she watched the boy pull away no recognition came to mind, everything about him reflected who he was to her, a stranger. His scent, looks, and even his attitude didn't spark a particular memory or longing nostalgia.

"Mello is your name? I...think you have me confused with someone else. I'm certain we've never met." We couldn't have.

His mood switch reminded her somewhat of a bratty child, much like Sayu his switch had been an instant, seemingly growing sour from her response. "Don't you recognize me?" Mello scoffed in disbelief.

I just said that. Perhaps sarcasm wasn't her best retort to go by, from observing the room everyone stood by like helpless prey, Itsuko and the other girls had bundled behind the sofa together in hushed cries, Hatori was almost a sitting duck with the gun so loosely pointed towards his head and the rest of Mello's goons were just watching the show, Matt especially taking an interest. "Am I supposed to...? I think you have me confused with somebody else, I apologize if you wasted a trip."

Kissing his teeth in frustration he pointed towards the door, keeping his eyes trained on a bewildered Y/N.

"Get out!" He snapped at the room, everyone rushing out like fleeing pets who had just been awaiting the order. "Did I say you?" He huffed, gripping Y/N's arm and dragging her towards the chair. "It wasn't supposed to go like this! You're not supposed to react like that! Do you have no idea who I am!?"
