In the fleeting moments it took the boys to lock them in the cage, a stark contrast to the hours spent grappling with confinement, Y/N had resigned herself to the sombre reality without much argument. Unlike her counterpart's plan of pushback, unleashing a torrent of profanities while assaulting the filthy glass with the heel of her boots, Y/N found solace in the downpour outside as a welcome distraction.

She couldn't feel the wetness of raindrops dripping down her skin to dampen her dry lips, she didn't get to breathe the crisp air that formed as a byproduct of the weather or witness their descent from the monochrome sky to the deserted pavement beneath her, everything about the rain that brought her deep needed comfort was something beyond her senses and offered as nothing but a sadistic spectacle too never be indulged...Yet when the mist fogged up the windows and the patterns of raindrops began to form a steady rhythm clacking against the floor-length windows, it was at least a substitute and suitable replacement to wash away her nerves as a stream dripped from the rain pipe above.

However, her forced charge was incessant scheming and heated tantrums shattered the fragile sense of peace she had dissociated into. Sayu may have put up a front as her vain family would, her untamed temper and whiny outbursts falling into nothing but a cliche for a sensitive sweet girl hidden underneath, one that held up in the mirror-like paper to water Y/N would argue, but for all their battles she'd give the girl one thing, she was one hell of a fighter when the situation called, a trait she assuredly gained from Soichiro. Despite her misplaced fury and her unpleasant company that bordered toward arrogance at times, the fourteen-year-old had more gaul than most adults in the police station did and she was utterly fearless, putting aside her antics and instead nursing Y/N's concussion. For once they shared a common enemy, a denominator to channel their shared feeling towards that, rare to play out again, was not each other.

"It's bullet-resistant," Y/N sighed, vexation evident as her fellow prisoner's fervent attempts proved futile against the cage locking them in. "Kid, you're completely wasting your breath. You can't kick through this thing, hell, the task force combined wouldn't even dent it." She emphasized by retrieving her cell phone and smashing it harshly at the other side, not even managing to make a noise. "Oh look at that soundproof too." She laid back against the wall, pulling off the damp towel on her head and shutting her eyes. "Nothing to do but wait to be traded for the books I gather."

"What!? That's it!? That's your attitude!? Sit here and be used so those people can blackmail their way into getting what they want!? I thought you hated people like that!" Sayu retorted, a genuine array of offence coating her once furious gaze, savouring her pride by offering Y/N one of the cruellest looks she'd ever received. "You don't know we can't get out! You haven't even tried! Aren't you a serial killer!?"

"Yeah but I'm not stupid, I know how to bide my time and pick my battles. It's called swallowing one's pride, try it sometime." Y/N scoffed, echoing the rejection she had given the girl when they first met. "As I told you during the first ten minutes of your kicking, my Father built this. You know what that means?" She waited as if to receive some sort of response. "We aren't getting out, this thing was meant to hold so it would never let ME out."

For a moment she prided herself on simmering Sayu's relentless nature, the one that irked her so blatantly. "You said he built this? Did he keep you in it? So you must know a way out! You couldn't have, you know..." Sayu hesitated, falling to her knees and shuffling back, uncomfortable with finishing her sentence. "Killed him! No offence, but let's face it, you did." She spoke so swiftly it came out as a muffled spew of words. "We have to do something besides being hostages. How did you get out last time!?"
