"You're an idiot, Matsuda." Though Touta would argue the insults his colleagues threw at his foolishness and immaturity were unfair and petty most of the time...However this had been one day where he agreed.

For an investigation that focused solely on catching Japan's latest criminal, there had been more personal drama and storm outs from the office than any of the men could count, Soichiro. Who had been interrogating him the most, had been guilty of causing a scene himself. Ide, Mogi, and Aizawa had each tossed their hat into the circle to follow Y/N but each had been denied by the superior, though it was frustrating all they could do was sit idly by and listen to the ongoing argument.

L had merely glanced behind him before turning back to the monitor in disinterest, looking through cameras and monitoring deaths among current inmates had been his newest mania, and whatever drama his co-workers had concocted faded into the background, much like their presence overall.

But his impartiality didn't stem from a lack of care or concern towards Y/N, he knew that he couldn't offer what comfort she may have needed at the moment, and trying to ware her anger down felt insulting to the person he had come to know. If she needed an ear then she'd come to him and if not then the Detective was far more comfortable to stay a passing thought in her mind for the time being rather than an infantilizing presence.

Soichiro was trying to remain level-headed overall, while aggravated he made an effort not to let the emotion contort on his face. Personal feelings aside the boy were still his underling and the relationship came with expected professionalism in each one of their encounters.

"Let me get this correct." Matsuda had looked like his daughter after one of her tantrums. curled into himself and on edge like a scared animal back into a corner.

"You use your title as a police officer to uncharted records that you were not permitted to even view no mind touch, you confront Y/N's guardian under the guise you were sent to investigate, you traveled to her prior home, the hospital and informally interviewed a patient there, you then allowed said patient to fake a heist to break in and obtain even more documents that you shouldn't be near and for days you've been building a..." He seemed hesitant to label it an actual investigation. "So-called Case. This case is being built because you believe the man to be guilty of...What exactly?"

That had been Matsuda's block in the road, he had no idea what he was trying to pin on the Doctor but from the several glares pointed his way he felt too terrified to offer a flimsy excuse. "Well-" His hands fisted the material of his dress pants before relaxing onto his thigh.

"After my visit to the Demons Tulip which in my opinion is a ridiculous name by the way." He was rambling and he knew it. "T-The waitresses and bartender knew of her, it was as if they expected her too..." Did he have to announce it? The thought alone made his face scrunch up. "Service me. T-They told me she wasn't in until later, as if I should've come back."

"So?" Ide raised a brow, his ignorance wasn't unfounded because, despite the Doctors' notoriety, the club had been relatively quiet, a fantasy living under the radar.

A streak of annoyance coursed through him. "So!? So something is going on here!" He snapped, instantly looking away in realization. "I'm sorry for yelling at you all and I understand I'm in no position too but disbelief is the reason we didn't catch onto this in the first place."

"We could be sued for this." Aizawa countered. "Sure your reason for sneaking around is heroic but realistically you should be getting demoted for using your badge to your advantage without Soichiro's knowledge."

"Criminal damage, abuse of power, theft, and who knows what else?" Mogi listed and with each example, Matsuda's determination shrank. "Even if we do pursue him, the best evidence we have against Doctor Hatori is those workers and I doubt they'd speak up, neither would his customers, and certainly not Y/N. An investigation wouldn't do anything and public opinion is going in his favor if the media finds out."
