GOD'S FAVOURITE.

For the past few weeks, the office had been in a passive state on what to do with themselves while awaiting Misa Amane's and Light Yagami's eventual freedom.

Despite the fact, the likes of Mogi and Aizawa had expressed direct complaints about keeping the two teenagers locked up for as long as they had under such bleak conditions their concerns had been brushed off by L, who had barely even looked up in days.

For someone who had been nagged by the entire task force to take a moment's rest among the chaos of it all, he didn't look as disheveled as one would think.

They knew that no progress was being made in the case and with Light's initial confinement, the Kira cases had come to a screeching halt during those first few days...Before resuming once again, what startled the officers was that there had been nothing.

No evidence pointing out why they had halted for that short time, no clues on why they had been building up more swiftly than before, and no idea just what they were waiting for.

What played on Y/N's mind was her conversation with Light from that day, he had seemingly entrusted her with his Death Note under the guise of necessary loyalty and yet she hadn't laid eyes on the scrappy thing nor the companion that came with it.

Had he changed his mind or had it entered the hands of another?

Nevertheless, all she could do was wait and see if it would turn up and pick at the question of just who had their hands on Lights book.

The fan made an irking sound as it screeched while turning before eventually coming to a halt altogether. Most of the men had leaned themselves in their leather cushioned seats and shoved the mountains of paperwork aside in an ignorant attempt to ignore it, the only one who seemed to be putting in work was Matsuda and Soichiro but in that duo, only one of them had ended up researching the case and watching the monitor...The other had simply been left to his pet project since nobody had a use for him.

Each member today had voiced their occasional curiosity on what Touta was working on but all they got in reply was him shoving his papers away from the human eye. Even Y/N hadn't been exempt from his isolation for the day.

Sucking lazily on the straw attached to the crimson-colored soda bottle she played with her straw sunflower hat, specifically the periwinkle-colored ribbon wrapped around it. The thin material toyed itself to weave through her fingers ever so often though eventually the teen had just left it on the top of her head. A yellow romper laid over her body with small speckled stars designed onto the shorts and top flaunting three brown buttons running up the middle, finally her feet were bare as they rested on the opposing chair with only a pair of blue laced trimmed socks covering them.

Tapping on her knee the Detective simply threw them off before taking his seat back. "I see living with a multi-millionaire has upped your style." Aizawa snorted, she only grimaced at the statement in return. "And my chair isn't your footrest." He added, his face painted with that same lazy grin it always had been.

"I'm motivating you." She chirped, swinging her legs over his lap and thus the chair once again. "See my thoughts are if I'm constantly bothering you then it'll inspire you to help instead of writing a single word every hour...And I've always had great style but nice try."

Though the dynamic between herself and the rest of the task force often consisted of snarky remarks it wasn't an unpleasant relationship and deep down the elder men held a relief that she had opened up more as the weeks went on, it was almost striking to rethink to that first meeting of the mute girl and the memory brought a fond smile over each of their lips.
