Episode 4

Manya's Campus

"Oh my it's almost daybreak. I have to get ready quickly so as to submit my assignment on time" Manya muttered to herself and just as she was about leaving for the bathroom, her cellphone rang.

Manya: Hello mom (let out a wide grin)
Palak: (speaks from the other line) Hello Manya, How are my dear?
Manya: I'm perfectly fine mom. How are you too
Palak: I'm also fine my dear.
Manya: And how is everyone at home doing? Priti, Grandma, dad, uncle and Aunt.
Palak: They are all very fine dear, how are your lectures too?
Manya: very well mum
Palak: Okay my dear I gave Maya a call too and she said the same. I hope you speak with ease other?
Manya: Yes mom we do
Palak: okay. Take of yourself my dear and make sure to be attentive during lectures, I wish you all the very best in your exams
Manya: Thank you mom and take care of yourself too. Send my greetings to everyone as well
Palak: I'll do that my dear. Manya: Okay mom
Palak: I miss my Manya so much
Manya: I miss my sweet mom too
Palak: I should hang up now okay. I'm sure you have classes. Bye my dear
Manya: okay maa bye.
Palak: (ends the call).

In no time, Manya gets to school and prepares to go submit her assignment. Suddenly, Varun approaches her.

Varun: Good morning Manya
Manya: Good morning mister
Varun: Really Manya, why do you suddenly call me mister?
Manya: just a little respect for you, unless you're not satisfied with it then I can look for other suitable names for you.
Varun: No no no, it's fine I was just surprised. Thank you
Manya: My pleasure
Varun: May I help you submit your assignment?
Manya: (sharply) No thanks, I'm okay to do that myself, I don't need your help.
Varun: okay then no problem I was just offering you a helping hand
Manya: And how many times will I have to tell you I don't need your help.
Varun: okay okay it's fine I'm sorry

Soon Manya proceeded to submit her assignment and as she was walking down the stairs, she misses a step and fell down the stairs. Luckily for her it wasn't that high so she sustained no injury at all.

Manya: (shouting as she fell) help me! I'm falling, someone please help me!
Kajal: (approaching Manya) Hey Manya, how did you fall? I'm coming (Rushes towards her)
Manya: (wincing in pain)
Kajal: sorry dear
Varun: (rushing down the stairs) Manya are you okay
Manya: yes I'm fine. I just slipped and fell
Varun: I hope you didn't get hurt
Manya: No but my leg hurts
Kajal: come on Manya I'll help you up. Careful
Varun: kajal you take her to the lecture room, Manya give me your assignment I'll submit it.
Manya: (stares at Varun and finally gave him her book) Thank you
Varun: No no, don't thank me, it would mean I helped you.
Manya: Whatever, let's go Kajal

At Anshuman Sampath's house.
Everyone is having breakfast at the table and Anshuman and pratik left for their work places after breakfast was over.

Shreya: Palak dear
Palak: yes mother
Shreya: When are Manya and Maya coming home?
Palak: After their semester exam, They coming home.
Shreya: okay my dear I wish them success
Palak: Yes Thank you mother
Shreya: Go now and check on Priti, she must be awake now
Palak: Sure mother.

After a few months, the girls semester exams were coming up.
*At Maya's school*
Students are preparing and reading for the exams. Maya is seen reading under a big tree in the school compound, when Sameer approached her.

Sameer: Hi Maya, you busy?
Maya: Hi Sameer, yeah I am. Any problem?
Sameer: Nothing serious, I just wanted you to explain a few sums that I don't understand to me.
Maya: uhh, okay. Just give me five minutes, I'll round up what I'm doing.
Sameer: Sure you take your time. (Sits beside Maya)
Maya: (finishes her work and attends to Sameer)
Sameer: (stares and smiles at Maya who was busy explaining sums to him)
Maya: (looks up to see Sameer staring) Hey mister, why are you staring?
Sameer: (regains himself) uhh, nothing really, I... I just like the way you talk.
Maya: So it means you've not been listening all these while
Sameer: No no I completely understand everything you have explained.
Maya: Thank goodness you do. (Her cellphone rings) hey Didi, how are you doing. I've missed you so much.
Manya: (from the other side) I'm doing fine, me too I miss my troublesome Maya.
Maya: Now you're calling me troublesome, you'll leave me with no choice but to hit you.
Manya: As if you can do that over the phone.
Maya: (laughs)
Manya: I hope you're preparing very well for the exam.
Maya: of course I am, trust me that I won't relent, until I top my department. And you should also do the same.
Manya: I sure will, Maya.
Sameer: (thinks) Really so she wants to compete with me. I won't allow that even though I like her.
Maya: Okay then, bye. (Ends call) did you say something Sameer?
Sameer: Me no no I didn't.
Maya: okay then
Sameer: Thank you for the kind gesture I really appreciate it. I'll leave now.
Maya: Sure you welcome.

The semester exams started and ended at the end of two weeks. The results came out and Maya was the first on the result list in her department while Sameer was second, this made him feel quite uneasy but he remained calm. Manya on the other hand was second while Varun occupied the first position. This made Manya a little bit upset and she confronted him.

Manya: Hey mister top ranker.
Varun: Hi Manya
Manya: Congratulations on your success but next time do not think you can defeat me.
Varun: Thank you miss but is that supposed to be a threat?
Manya: No I'm just telling you so that you can be aware that no one ever competes with me and wins.
Varun: Really miss Manya. We'll see that next time.
Manya: You can mark my words.

And true to Manya's words, Varun was never able to beat her off the position of the top ranker in their department and he finally accepted that she could never be defeated.
