"Damn." Kianna sighed as she threw out the last garbage bag. 2 days had gone by and she was finally finished cleaning her condo to perfection. It felt good to finally be able to see her floor not covered in snack wrappers and drinks.

She was very grateful that she lived on the first floor because she would've hated having to carry all those heavy bags down and knowing her, she probably would've procrastinated and left it there for a day longer.

The smell of cleaning products filled her nose once again, as soon as she stepped foot in. Kianna felt good being able to see her space nice and neat just like how she normally kept it.

She was trying to get better, and finally leave the chapter of her life with Asíah behind her—no matter how hard that might actually be.

Thinking on it now, she was happy that she hadn't fully moved out her condo and kept it as a just in—case space because if she was forced to stay in her home that she had lived in with Asiah, lord knows what would've happened.

Taking off her crocs and shoving on her house slippers she walked to her kitchen and opened her fridge hoping to find something for her to snack on. She wasn't shocked to only see a carton of milk, and some yogurts being the only thing to occupy it.

Her stomach grumbled at the sight, and Kianna contemplated between ordering something quick or going out to buy some quick groceries.

It was still fairly early in the afternoon, around 6 at night maybe—but Kianna really just wanted to lay on her couch and watch Netflix, after all the work she had done.

She let out a groan as she picked up her keys and ran to her room to find a proper shirt and pants. Even if it was to the grocery store she wanted to at least look a little decent.

Walking into her now cleaned up room, she opened her closet and threw on a shirt, and a regular pair of grey sweats.

She gathered her messy hair into a even messier bun, and grabbed a hat to quickly put on. Making sure to blow out her candle on the way out.

She only hoped no one she knew saw her, as she opened her car door.

Kianna ran her hands through her fresh install, the curls bouncing and brushing her waist every time she moved, and the jet black pairing well with her cocoa complexion.

"Ahh! Thank you auntie! I love it." She smiled widely, turning her head side to side in the large salon mirror.

"Of course baby! You already know ya' Titi gon' get you right!"

Kianna laughed at her excitement and the accent that was hopping out, almost seeming to forget her Aunt- sorry Titi was originally from Maryland.

It had been a long time since she'd seen her but Marie was very good at making people comfortable, there was never any awkward or forced conversation between the two, and Kianna loved that.

Getting out of her chair and following Marie once more into the store, Kianna heard the awe and compliments the other customers and employees were giving her. She wasn't very used to getting all these compliments at once so she was very shy as she told them all thank you.

When she reached upfront, she dug through her purse for her wallet, getting her card ready to pay.

"Oh no baby! You don't have to pay, consider this a.. get well gift." Marie said shaking her head at Kianna. Kianna smiled uncomfortably being reminded of how tough the past months have been.

Of course she would've known.

"Thank you Titi." She said awkwardly and gave a small smile. Marie immediately noticed, "Lord I done made it weird for you huh? I'm sorry bug but your mom told me." She said pulling her into a hug. Kianna couldn't say she hated that everyone knew what she was going through, she just found it a little embarrassing being reminded of her past actions.

Marie patted her back and gave her another tight squeeze before they separated.

"And don't forget about me over here! Imma' need you to be coming weekly, little girl." Marie playfully scolded her, changing from the subject.

Kianna let out a laugh at that. "Yes ma'am, I'll make sure I will." She giggled.

The two talked for a bit more, before Kianna had to start heading out. She gave her one last hug before leaving, and getting settled into her car.

"So..." Kianna's mom, Cadence, started. The dinner on her plate no longer on her mind as she stared at her daughter.

"Wow momma, could you be any less obvious?" Kianna accused taking another bite of her chicken, "Just ask me what you want to, you know I don't lie to you."

Cadence shook her head looking at her daughter. She knew Kianna could be a very friendly and outgoing person, but with that said she tended to be very private with her feelings.

The one person that she actually let in, had ultimately broke her heart. And that absolutely devastated Kianna— which in turn devastated cadence as well.

She hated seeing her daughter like that, and not being able to do anything about it. And she was all for Kianna wanting to get over the boy, but it didn't hurt to ask her if she was okay every once in a while.

"How are you doing bug? Really?" Kianna pondered on her mothers words before answering, " Tired I guess? No offense momma but I know what I've been through these past months and it seems like everywhere I go, everyone is reminding me of it. That's not exactly helping me take my mind of things, or helping me get over him." She expressed.

Kianna could see the hurt on her mom's face but she had to make her understand. Yes, these past couple of months have been rough but her mom constantly telling everyone to be careful of their words around her, wasn't something she was fond of.

"I—bug I wasn't trying to do that! I'm sorry I know I can get a bit...overbearing but it's because I love you, baby." Cadence explained.

She never knew this was how Kianna really felt and she could understand why in a sense, her bothering her daughter wasn't helping anyone get anywhere.

But that wouldn't stop her checkups.

"I know you wish the best for me momma, and I love you to. You're just looking out for me."

"Come, lets move on from this, pea, let's talk about this hair! I've never seen you get it so long baby, is it itchy?"

Kianna let out a laugh at her mom's scrunched up face. She knew with her momma here, her mind would quickly wander off of Asíah.
