"Come on, Samir! That's the best you ca' do, boy?" Jackson scolded. He had been Samir's trainer for an ongoing three years now and at the moment the pair were practicing. It was approaching 2 months before the golden gloves and Samir wasn't as focused as he should be.

"Nah JJ I don't know was' going on wit' me, man." Samir sighed throwing off his gloves in frustration.

This had been happening a lot during his past few classes. He had been so distracted recently, almost as if he wasn't feeling boxing like he did before.

And he quickly learned that he wasn't fond of that fact. Boxing was the only thing he had. At 24 years old Samir should not still be wondering what the hell he wanted to do with his life.

He could feel Jackson stare burning him as him as he walked out the ring. He was frustrated with himself, and the fact that he didn't know why he was feeling like this

Bored.

Yes, it has been an upcoming feeling for weeks now but he's been trying to brush it off. Which obviously hadn't been working.

He was damn near 25, young as hell and starting to make it big in the WBA he damn sure couldn't be starting to lose interest in the one thing that kept him standing.

In the one thing that ensured his family was always gon be good.

Jackson let out a sigh, seeing Samir's inner turmoil. "Hey son, if you wanna' take some time off.."

"Nah—nah, I'm good JJ swea', imma be more focused tomorrow. Promise." He said shaking away his negative thoughts

Maybe he just needed to go out.

♕♕♕

"Dawg I swear ion neva wanted a female so bad."

The relaxation Samir thought he was getting by going out, turned out to be another session of rasheed obsessing over some girl.

Samir sipped his water as he rolled his eyes at his infatuated friend.

"At this point nigga find somebody new, shit. You've been takin bout shawty for how long? And still ain't tried to talk to her? Can't be." He emphasized.

This wasn't the first time he had gone on and on about some girl. Samir wasn't even aware of her name or what she looked like, but for her to have his friend acting like this? Yea shawty had to be doin some right.

"Samir—please don't play nigga." Rasheed mugged him. "just because you be fuckin bitches left to right don't mean I gotta. I got dis' dick on lockdown."

Samir grumbled at his friend.

Here he go again with this shit.

It was no secret that Samir got around a bit, but Rasheed always made it more than it seemed. During college, Rasheed used to try to be like that—fuckin around—but he got attached to them to easily. And in the end they would look to Samir for what Rasheed couldn't give them. Good dick without all the complications.

But Samir never gave them the time of day, he had respect for the people he called family.

And no matter how many times Samir expressed this to him Rasheed never listened. Even now at 25 years young Samir wasn't even thinking or looking at females anymore, more so focused on his career, but his friend never seemed to acknowledge that.

Samir just shook his head as he listened to his friend blabber, spacing out to the events that happened today.

Even though he believed it was just a phase and he'll be back on his grind in no time, there was still a nagging feeling that, in the end maybe boxing wasn't for him.

And he hated that feeling.
