Klaus POV
I turned around in bed again. I hadn't been able to fall asleep yet. I sighed and thought about today. Jacques Snicket was dead. But Count Olaf had been captured. We're with Hector now. We're safe. We don't need to hear Mr. Poe cough. Again. We rescued the Quagmires.
The Quagmires...thinking about them, I felt a smile beginning to form. Or rather, thinking about her. Isadora. I knew I liked her, a lot, ever since I saw her and she shared that witty couplet. But did she really like me back? She kissed me on the cheek once in the library...and she hugged me when we saved her...but was she just being kind?
I turned around again, and then got up. It was 2:30 AM. This was no use. I wouldn't be able to sleep if all I could think about was her, so I put on my robe and glasses, and slowly walked towards the door. Violet stirred in her sleep. I froze. She sighed and then lay still. I walked out the door and went to look down at the view.
The wind was blowing softly, and my hair came into my eyes. I peered over the edge and gasped at the land below us. We were so far up in the sky that the houses looked like ants. The fields were about as big as my thumb. I laughed softly at the breathtaking view when suddenly I heard a creak behind me.
I turned around and saw Isadora. Her hair wasn't tied, and it framed her face. Her lips were slightly parted and her beautiful eyes were wide. My heart starting beating faster and my face flushed. I hope the darkness covered it.
"Klaus?" she whispered. "Is that you?"
