Violet POV

I sighed, and ran a hand through my hair frustratedly, trying to ease out the knots. The others looked at me with identical looks of shock and hurt. There was a long period of silence, when Duncan spoke up.

"Where is Hector now?" he asked quietly.

"He fainted again," I muttered. "Since there's nothing we can do about it, we should probably gather our stuff, a few spare clothes, and get down at the next general store or supermarket we see."

There were murmurs of assent. I just covered my face with my hands and tried to rub the soot off. Isadora saw me, came up to me and whispered, "Violet, it's okay. We'll find a place. Let me help you get ready, I'll take the soot off, hm?"

I sighed with relief. "Thank you for reassuring me. I could really use your help." I smiled a little, and she returned it, then gently led me to the washroom.

Isadora POV

I walked with Violet to the washroom as she picked up Sunny as well. After the door closed behind them, I began wiping soot off Violet's face.

She gave me a small smile, but her expression gave me the feeling she was thinking about something else. Probably our current predicament. To be fair, we were in a dire situation. I sighed as my thoughts began wandering as well.

It was just going to be the five of us now. We had gone through worse, but now we were practically in the middle of the Hinterlands. Where would we go? Mr. *cough* Poe *cough* wouldn't be of much help — he never was. I hoped Violet had a plan in mind. She was the most logical.
