Klaus POV
"Yeah, it's me." I said, heart hammering. "What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't sleep." Isadora whispered. "You?"
"I couldn't sleep either." I replied.
She nodded, and began to make her way towards me. Her footing slipped and she stumbled forward. Isadora fell against my chest, and I helped her stand up straight.
"Thanks." she blushed.
"Of course." I said as my face flushed as well.
Isadora made her way to the railing, and her eyes lit up as she looked down on the land we were crossing. "Oh!" she exclaimed softly. "It's beautiful out here!"
"It is...but-" I cut myself off. What was I thinking?
"But what?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the scene.
"Never mind, it's not important."
"No, tell me what you meant!"
"Nothing, nothing!"
"Klaus Baudelaire, you will tell me what you were going to say this instant!"
"Or what?" I asked, leaning against the railing and smirking down at her. She froze, staring at my lips. "Hello...earth to Isadora?"
She snapped back to reality and her eyes flicked up to mine. "Or I won't talk to you!"
I chuckled. "Fine, I'll tell you. I was saying...it's not - the view, I mean, the view's not - as beautiful...as you..." my voice dropped to a whisper as I looked away. It was now or never. I took a deep breath. "Isadora, I've liked you since the moment I saw you. I know all that love at first sight stuff is cliché but this is exactly how I felt when we first met. You're really funny and kind and witty, and I love your poetry. What I'm trying to say is...I really, really like you."
