Chapter 9: Miscalculation

Isadora POV

I groaned and flopped back down on the bed. "Why so earlyyyy." I pouted, and Klaus laughed and picked up Sunny. "There's something wrong with the mobile home. It's been tilting a lot. Didn't you feel it?"

"No, I was sleeping!" I mumbled, diving deeper into the sheets, when suddenly the mobile home shifted again. I shrieked and tumbled out of my bed, and Klaus steadied me as the home righted itself again. Duncan rushed out of the bathroom, screaming "Isa-" then stopped himself when he saw Klaus helping me up.

At the same time Violet rushed into the room. Her night clothes were wrinkled and their was something black on her face. It looked like-

Violet POV

"Soot." I said, as I caught Klaus, Isadora, Sunny and Duncan staring at me. "There's a problem."

I started explaining. "When I left Sunny with Klaus to go check the engine, I never expected anything more than that it needed oil. But when I saw Hector who had fainted, my heart sunk.

"I shook him awake roughly and he yelped. He quickly grabbed the railing and stood up. When I asked him what was wrong, he said nothing but that maybe I should check the engine.

"I didn't want to force him, so I pretended to check the engine. He was pacing the deck and muttering to himself. I couldn't hear him so I went up to him and told him the engine was fine. Then I asked him what was wrong, again.

"And...apparently, there's been some miscalculation. He said he didn't adjust all the tensions regarding the weight of all the things he's carrying.

"Long story short, we can't live here anymore. It won't sustain with so many people."
