The chariot took off and it carried rudev. It was a long journey for her. Babylon is quite a distance from Persia, but they were both in jeroboam. Rudev held onto her arrow of will because it was the last thing she had that life didn't take from her. She remained silent during the journey. She thought of her parents throughout and how messed up her life became within the blink of an eye. A new chapter was beginning for her. Was she going to make the best out of it?
She passed out later on and had another dream.
"Rudev, my child, " she heard her name. It was in the night's dead and the guards were fast asleep. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around for who called for her and came down as she was not being watched, followed the sound of the voice into the woods, she took a stroll following the call of her name"Rudev, my child", she turned and saw her mum. She couldn't understand how and what her mom was doing in the woods.
"Mum?" she was happy indeed. Sofia bent down for a hug. Even as weird as it was, rudev ran in for the hug. She held on to her and shared all her problems. "Mum, they accused me of killing Dad then they kicked me out. I'm all alone now and am going to jail"Sofia didn't reply, she just kept quiet, this bothered rudev. "Why aren't you saying anything?" she asked her mom.
"Mum! she said again!" Sofia gently pushed rudev away
"Rudev, you'll see me again next time but not just now "she rubbed her face smoothly."You are destined for great things, and I'll be by your side every time" she pecked her forehead.
"What do you mean by that ma? " she held her mom's hands not letting go.
"Go now! or you'll never see me again" Sofia pointed towards the chariot. Rudev looked back and replied"...but they're taking me away " when she looked at her mom again, Sofia wasn't there.
"Mum?" she screamed out.
"Stop screaming !" a voice said waking her up. She sat up and looked around, she realised it was just a dream again, she sighed and looked ahead, they were almost in Babylon. She slouched on her seat waiting for them to take her out. A guard stood to the side of the door waiting as she glanced one last time at the barren walls that will house her for many years. She followed the guard into the maze of hallways and gates that would lead inside. The jail was bigger than what people said, the sight of it would run chills down your spine. It looked old but it was always renovated, sounds were heard from outside. Men and women were kept under different walls to preserve orderliness. She observed and saw what the hostels looked like, she wasn't pleased by the sight of them. She began asking questions
"Look at their clothes, it's dirty " she looked at the guards looking for a reply. "They didn't have time to wash it" he replied to her. She asked again"Their hair is dirty..." The guard replied "Do you think, they care about that kind of stuff? they're struggling to even be alive and you're concerned with that. You'll look like them in the next 21 yrs, if you didn't kill your dad, you wouldn't be here" This reply made rudev mad
"Sir, pls come. Let me whisper to you something " she said. The guard pulled closer to her, she didn't waste time poking his eyes. He screamed. The SI ran from inside and asked rudev what happened. She just shrugged innocently, she was taken inside and given prison clothes. The clothes consist of a grey shirt with the logo of Babylon and grey baggy shorts. She put it on and packed her hair into a bun.
"I need that "the SI pointed at the arrow of will. She hesitated for a second but realised she was in jail now. She handed it over slowly"Can I get it back when I leave here ?" she asked
"Sure, it will be safe in my office" The SI smiled at her and walked her in.
Rudev was escorted into the hostel "I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay here"The SI left her standing alone. Rudev looked around at the faces of women who were older than her, some seemed happy, sad, or distressed while some considered that place their home. Rudev felt this deep hole in her heart, she was now one of them. She stood for minutes like a statue, that's when she saw a girl of about the same age she is. She was shocked but relieved, she wanted to approach the girl but the girl looked like she was hiding from something or someone.
"Hey," rudev said to her. The girl was shocked but even more afraid
"Get out from here " the girl whispered to her. Rudev couldn't figure out why she looked scared and hid in a corner. "I can help you," rudev said. The girl stood up and shouted
"What part of getting out! don't you understand?" Suddenly two hefty women approached them, and the girl knew it was trouble ." Busted !" one of the women said with a deep tone. She gulped and screamed, "Look out!" They got distracted, and this allowed her to run for her life.
"Stop that fox!" They ran after her. The chase was a wild one, knocking and slamming things, his girl couldn't stop or else she would be in trouble. On the other hand, rudev looked for a way to help her because it was her fault after all. She went after them, the girl climbed a pillar to protect herself"Get down!" they said to her. A crowd gathered around the pillar. "When I get my hands on you ..." she interrupted them saying"... if you get your hands on me "
She began slipping. rudev caught up to them, she looked around looking to create a distraction that would lure SI's attention. Rudev knew the girl would fall from the pillar so she thought fast. Rudev collapsed on the floor and screamed for help, they looked at her and the SI came rushing. The girl on the pillar saw the opportunity to get down and escape. Rudev was taken to the healing bay.
