Birthday Party

*Katie is 6*
I woke up to the birds chirping, a slight breeze coming in from my open window, and the smell of pancakes. I stretch my arms out and look at the clock.

7:45

I spring out if my bed and run out of my room to the kitchen. I see Jay sitting at the counter drinking coffee while talking to Will who is making pancakes. "Pancakes!!" I yell excitedly.

"Hey birthday girl! Your favourite breakfast with whipped cream and Nutella." Will says with a wink. I smile giddily and burst out laughing when Jay picks me up and tickled my sides.

"Jay J-Jay stop!!" I say in between laughs. Jay laughs and gives me a sloppy kiss on the cheek. I smile and grip onto him, resting my head on his shoulder. He smiles and kisses my forehead.

"Happy birthday kiddo! You wanna eat breakfast and then you can open your presents?" I nod my head vigorously into his shoulder. He takes me to the kitchen and sets me down on one of the chairs.

We eat our breakfast while talking and laughing.

"Alright kiddo! Present time!!" Will sang out in a weird voice. I laughed at him and ran to the livingroom plopping down in the couch.

"Alright this one is from me!" Will says while giving me a present. I open it to see a build a bear wearing a pink dress. "Ahhh thank you Will!!" I say before tackling him into a hug. "Hey Katie. Press it's paw."

I look at him weirdly before pressing the paw. "Happy birthday kiddo! I know how much you love build a bears so me, being you favourite brother and all, decided to make you one!"

I laugh and thank him again.

"Woah woah who says your the favourite brother?" Jay asks with a smirk on his face.

"I do!" Will says while making a face at him.

I laugh while Jay frowns. "Anyways squirt here's my present." I open the box to see a Duncan Keith Chicago blackhawks hockey jersey.

"Ahhhh thank you Jay Jay!!" I say while clutching the jersey to my chest before throwing it on and snuggling in it.

My brothers smile fondly at me. The doorbell rings. I look confused at my brother while they both smirk.

"Whose that??" I ask confused.

"Hmmm I don't know.. why don't we find out." Jay says while reaching for my hand. I shrug and grab his hand following him to the door. We open the door to see Hailey and Nat.

"Hailey!! Nat!! Wait what are you doing here..?" I ask happily but confused. They both laugh.

"Go get dressed shortstack! We're stealing you from your brothers and are having a girls day!"

I smile and run to my room to get changed, before running back to the door. They look at me confused.

"Can one of you help me pick an outfit?" I ask quietly while scratching my head shyly. They both smile and Hailey picks me up to take me to my room and help me. I snuggle my head into her neck and wrap my arms around her shoulders. I see Jay smiling at us over her shoulder and smile back at him.

Hailey sets me down on my bed and goes through my closet before pulling out a pair of black jeans and a white sweater. I pull them on and she puts my hair in a braid before grabbing my hand as we make our way back out to the livingroom.

"Alright boys we're gonna go to the mall and out for lunch.. we'll be back by 2?" They both nod there heads agreeing.

I run over and hug them both tightly before leaving with Hailey and Nat.

We arrive at the mall and Natalie holds my hand while walking around so we don't get separated. We go to children's place and Justice where they both buy me clothes for my birthday present. Natalie got me a new light pink dress and Hailey bought me a new shirt and jacket.

By the time we leave the mall it's 1:00. "Hey short stack you want lunch now?" I nod my head. "Alright where you want to go?"

"Can we go to Chick fil A?" They both agree and we drive there.

We sit down at a table with our food. "Thank you guys for today. You guys are like my sisters! I hope you marry my brothers" I say happily.

Hailey and Natalie look at each other with big smiles on their faces. "Well Katie.. your like our sister too! We both see you as our younger sister!" Natalie says.

I smile and we eat our food before heading home. We arrive at home and open the front door to see all the lights off. I get confused and a little scared so I grab Haileys hand.

Natalie turns the lights on.

"SURPRISE!!" I scream and hide behind Hailey. I hear laughs all around me and peak around her legs to see all of intelligence, 51, and med standing in our livingroom.

I slowly walk out from behind Hailey and over to Jay letting him pick me up.

"Happy birthday Katie!!" Chief comes up to me and says. "Thank you!" I say shyly. Everyone comes and says happy birthday.

I get down from Jay and make my way over to Gabby and Sylvie. "Hey Katie! How's your birthday?" Sylvie says to me softly. I smile at her. "Really good! I got a build a bear from Will, a Bwac- blackhawks jersey from Jay Jay and some clothes from Natalie and Hailey!" I say happily. They both smile at me before Gabby grabs something from her purse and gives it to me. I look at it curiously and shake it a little bit. They both laugh. "Open it honey" Gabby urges. I open the package carefully and see some hair bows and a pretty bracelet. "Thank Gabby!!" I say while she puts the bracelet on my wrist for me. "No problem honey!" She says while picking me up and hugging me. I hug her back tightly. "Can we go show my brothers?" I ask. "Of course we can sweetie."

She takes me over to wear my brothers are sitting with Adam, Kevin, Antonio, Kelly, and Matt. "Will! Jay Jay! Look what Gabby gave me!" I say while thrusting my wrist in front of their faces. They both smile at me. "We'll that's a really pretty bracelet squirt!" Jay says. "I hope you said thank you!" Will tells me. "I did! I have manners you know?" I say back to him. He rolls his eyes playfully while the guys around us laugh.

"Hey Katie! Come sit with your favourite firefighter!" Matt says with a wink. Gabby sets me down and I run over to Matt letting him pick me up and set me on his lap. I snuggle my head into his chest as he wraps his arms around me. "Wow Katie. That really stings!" Kelly says holding his hand over his chest. I frown and reach up to kiss his cheek before patting his back and snuggling into Matt again. The guys start laughing like crazy while I smile cheekily.

"Wow Guys! Your sister wounds me." Kelly says. "We'll she definitely got her attitude from Jay!" Will says with a smirk. "Mmhmm" I agree while Jay looks between the two of us with a bewildered look on his face. Everyone starts laughing harder while Kevin reaches out to me giving me a fist bump.

We keep talking for a bit before I start yawning. It's now around 7:30 and I'm exhausted after today. I snuggle my head farther into Matt's chest tuning out their conversation and fall asleep.

*Jays POV*

We've all been talking for a bit with Katie saying a couple things to us. It's around 7:45 when I noticed that Katie hasn't said anything for a while and look over to where she's sitting with Matt and see her fast asleep with her head buried in his chest.

I start laughing and the others look at me confused. "I think we tuckered her out today" I say while pointing at a sleeping Katie. The others laugh softly while Matt wipes a few start pieces of hair away from her face.

Hailey, Natalie, Gabby, Kim, and Sylvie come over to us. Kim takes one look and starts laughing. "Birthday girl down!" She says softly. The girls look and laugh a bit.

"Here I'll take her to bed." Natalie says to us while reaching out for her. Matt carefully puts Katie in her arms and Natalie takes Katie to her room.

Nat comes out and we continue talking until everyone decides to leave. I make my way to my room but stop at Katie's to see her fast asleep clutching her bear from Will in her hand, the jersey I gave her on, and the bracelet Gabby gave her on. I smile softly and head to my room to go to bed.
