*Katie is 14*

"Ugh why!? Can't I just stay home? It's summer break I don't want to keep getting dragged to work with you Jay!" I yell.

"Katie your coming! End of discussion!" He yells back.

"Ugh I hate you!" I scream before running upstairs and getting changed.

I walk downstairs and see Jay but ignore him and make my way over to his truck. Neither of us talk the whole ride because we're so mad at each other. It's not fair! I'm 14 and still can't stay home on my own. Why do I always get dragged to work with them!?

We pull up at the district and both quickly jump out of the truck to escape the awkward silence between us. We make it up the stairs into intelligence and I make my way right to the break room before plopping down on the couch and huffing.

I sit there for about half hour before the door opens.

"We got a case. We'll be back later." Jay says briefly.

I just nod in response and go back on my phone.

Jay sighs before closing the door and walking out.

It's been about 2 hours when the team walks back upstairs looking upset. I walk out of the break room to see everyone except Jay.

"Where's Jay?" I ask quickly after looking at the worried looks on everyone's faces.

They all look at me and share looks.

"Where is Jay!?" I ask more abruptly.

"Sweetie.. Jay got taken." Hank says while laying a hand on my shoulder.

I run those words through my head. Taken. Jays gone. "Taken!? Where? Find him!" I say while tearing up.

"We're trying to honey." Hank says before walking into his office.

I start sobbing. The last thing we did was have an argument. The last words I said to him was that I hate him.

Hailey makes her way over and pulls me into a comforting hug while I sob into her chest.

"Shhh it's ok Katie. We'll find him." She says soothingly.

I respond by hugging her tighter.

It's been about 4 hours since Jay has gone missing and the team hasn't stopped looking for him. I've been sitting at his desk absolutely terrified. I keep zoning out.

Apparently I was zoned out again because I jump when Adam shakes my shoulder a little bit. I look up to see the team looking at me worried.

"What?" I ask Adam.

"They found him honey. He's being taken to a hospital right now. Grab your jacket and I'll give you a ride." He says.

I jump up grabbing my jacket before running down the stairs out to Adams car. He starts driving right away.

"How bad is he hurt?" I ask quietly.

"Who says he's hurt?" Adam asks.

"You just told me he's being taken to the hospital and that's where we're going." I say.

He sighs. "I don't know for sure but pretty bad."

I sigh and tear up again.

"Hey what's wrong?" Adam asks gently.

"The last thing we did was argue. I told him I hated him. Adam I'm so scared what if those are the last words I ever got to say to him?" I say through my cries.

"Sweetie.. Jay knows you don't hate him. It was just a in the moment type of thing. Jays strong though. He's gonna make it." He says comfortingly.

I nod and inhale deeply while wiping away my tears.
