The day turned to night as the group stayed the night in a three-story house Qrow was able to get for them. Qrow was out mourning/celebrating Raven's passing as he left Hawk in charge of the group back at the house. Hawk is currently cleaning Jetstream inside the main living room as Pyrrha is polishing the new spear and buckler she got. Nora and Ruby were goofing off as they usually do, and Ren is reading poetry. After they visited Leonardo Lionheart, they knew they had to keep a close eye on Haven as the artifact was in immediate danger. Their only saving grace was that if Cinder planned on using the White Fang, she'd have to wait as they pooled soldiers into the assault since Hawk had severely thinned their presence in Mistral.
Ren: Looking at from his book, he eyes Jetstream. "Hawk? I don't believe I've ever seen this sword. Is it new? I thought the gauntlet blade was your weapon?"
Hawk: Placing the cleaned Jetstream on the center coffee table. "It is Ren, and as for my gauntlet blade. I had it removed due to it being too bulky. Sorry, that was just a one-time thing. This blade, which I've named Jetstream, pulls its design from Stormchaser, my last sword."
Ruby: "Oh! That reminds me!" Speeding upstairs in a blur of red rose petals.
Hawk: "Anyway, I built Jetstream a couple of weeks after I left Beacon."
Nora: "Speaking of built. What about our mask?"
Pyrrha: "Mask?"
Ren: "Yes. Hawk suggested the idea of making our team wear personalized masks when we went out on missions. As to build teamwork and provide a psychological advantage against our opponents."
Nora: "Oh yeah, and he was all over this idea. He had designs all drawn up and everything."
Pyrrha: "Why wasn't I made aware of this?"
Hawk: "I brought up the idea the day I...snapped." Ruby is speeding back downstairs, holding a small blanket wrapped around a long object in her arms.
Ruby: "Here, Hawk. I managed to grab this back at Beacon. Thought you'd want this."
Hawk takes the wrapped object from her hands and begins to unwrap it, and is genuinely surprised and happy to see that it was his old sword, Stormchaser.
Hawk: "Ruby...I...Thank you. It feels good to hold this sword again." Taking he begins to inspect it. "Though it needs a good sharpening."
Ruby: "Think nothing of it. I knew how much you liked that blade and just thought if I ever saw you again, I'd have for you."
Hawk: "Well, I can't let this act of kindness go unrewarded. I think I'll let you in on a little secret. How about I tell you all how my swords work?" Ruby just about shoots herself through the roof with excitement.
Ren: "Now, this is something I can quit reading for." Sitting up in the chair.
Nora: "Oooh! Storytime!" Pyrrha sets her weapons to the side and puts her full attention on Hawk as she gleefully awaits.
Hawk: Waiting for Ruby to stop bouncing around the room and stay still. "Alright, so to begin with, both Stormchaser and Jetstream are both experimental blades known as High-Frequency Blades. They function by allowing a current of electricity to flow through the blade, causing it to vibrate at a "High-Frequency". This causes objects that are made of matter that get near the blade to repel against it. This, in essence, makes it easier for the user to slice through normally impossible things to cut through with a single strike. The only problem with the design is that they need a constant electricity supply to work, but luckily for me, I make my own. Stormchaser was designed to be a sort of one-and-done style use, and I only ever use its High-Frequency function to finish off an opponent. This makes the blade like any other but with an extra trick. Jetstream was designed by myself not to have that flaw; it can constantly function with electricity flowing through it or not. The sheathed, as you've all noticed, has the trigger on its handle." Placing Jetstream into its sheath to present to the others.
