Chapter 22: New Experiences

Back at the camp, a red portal opens as Hawk walks through; he takes a deep breath as the portal closes behind him. Regaining his composure, he catches the bladed edge of an ax from Nora. Noticing the ax had the same energy as Rebellion.

Hawk: "Hmm....interesting."

Nora: Tears rolling down her cheeks. "How could you!? We trusted you, and you became everything we've strived to fight against!"

Hawk: "*sigh* Nora, quit being a child and open your eyes for once in your life. Heroes don't exist in this world, there are only those that fall into their place on the chessboard, or there are those that break the board. And people like Flynt, Ruby, Yang, all of the people we thought were our friends are nothing more than pawns to be sacrificed as such." Using the sheath of Yamato to trip her, then holding out his hand to help her up. "But we can be different; we can break the illusion we were forced to grow up in and be free. But to do so, I need your help."

Nora couldn't help but glare at Hawk but as her adrenaline and anger began to wear off. The words he spoke both during his speech and just now started to make sense. Looking back up to him, she sees Hawk, her friend she swore to fight like hell for. She could see now that he was doing the same for her and the others. He was going up against the entire world just for his friends, friends he considered family.

Nora: "...Okay, Hawk. I'm sorry." Taking his hand as he helps her up.

Hawk: "Don't be; I understand your anger. It seems your demonic powers have made themselves quite comfortable within you."

Vergil(mental): "Too comfortable. Her body may have naturally been able to utilize demonic power since the beginning."

Hawk(mental): "While your theory may have steady ground, let us see how the others utilize theirs."

Hawk: "V, how are the others?"

Ren: Slowly sitting up. "Besides a killer headache and a bit hungry, I'm all peachy."

Nora: "REN!" Tackling him in a big bear hug.

Ren: "Ow, ow! Nora, too much! I slept good, Hawk, thanks for asking."

Hawk: "How'd you sleep-wait? How did you know what I was going to say?"

Vergil(mental): "Could be a form of premonition?"

Ren: "Actually, a premonition is a gut feeling; what I have is precognition, and yes, Hawk, I can see him as well." To say everyone, including Vergil, we're a bit caught off guard.

Hawk: "You..can see him?"

V: "Who can you see, Ren?"

Ren: "Tall, dark blue aura all around him, short white spikey hair, giving the world's most intimidating scowl, and no Griffon it's isn't Hawk's dead mom." Hawk shooting Griffon a glare that alone could kill the familiar.

Griffon: "What? Hehe, I would never say such a thing." Obviously, nervous as he was just caught red-handed.

Nora: "How about this Ren, just wait until someone says something a second time to respond. Okay?" Ren waits a second, then nods.

Hawk: "So it seems Nora infused both her hammer and Rebellion into a singular weapon bound to her. Ren's senses have been expanded to surpass even mine, as well as gaining precognition. All that's left is Pyrrha."

Ren: "If it's any help, we should eat breakfast first but make sure we make extra for her. She'll be waking up shortly after we eat."

V: "Ren, that helps immensely. Now let us see if we can catch something to eat, it would be a good test of your abilities. Nora, have some sparring matches with Hawk so that you may acclimate yourself with your new weapon." Nora shoots a thumbs-up as V and Ren head out to hunt.
