Trails of fire spread through the hallways of Haven academy. Sheets of ice covering parts of the floor crack from the force of thunder. Leading down into a large underground cavern are the sounds of blades clashing against one another, shouts of two fighting each other echo through the cavern. Hawk, the adopted son of Raven Branwen, fights against his mother's murderer, Cinder Fall, who is both Spring and Fall maiden. Hawk clashes once again with Cinder's glass blades, enhanced with her maiden powers to resist both Stormchaser and Jetstream's high-frequency properties. Even with the newfound power from sacrificing Dante and consuming the Qliphoth fruit, they were still even. Cinder couldn't believe it either, she'd taken two maidens powers and was given more power from Salem, and Hawk is matching her every move with his own. Back above ground in Haven academy, the others could feel the clashing of both Cinder and Hawk's fight, as it created earthquake-level tremors with each strike of their blades. As both of them repel from one another due to their matching energies, both breathed heavily and never took their eyes off each other.
Hawk: "I have to admit, you know how to fight."
Cinder: "I hate to have to say this, but I agree. But unlike you, I'm not even close to giving up." Hawk smirks as the two dash at each other to continue their duel.
Back in Haven, Pyrrha dodges another punch from Hazel as his arm fire another blast of concentrated air. As she spins around, she uses her new buckler to try and daze Hazel with a quick jab to the face, but he ignores the hit and shoulder bashes her away. Rolling through the impact, she looks to see him plants another dust crystal into his arm.
Pyrrha: "I get it now. You can resist physical trauma, so you're able to infuse yourself with dust crystal." Transforming her spear and buckler into its greataxe form.
Hazel: "Correct. Now stand aside. If you know what I'm capable of, then you have no chance of beating me."
Pyrrha: "I didn't become the Mistral tournament champion by running away from fights that seemed impossible."
Hazel: "Your skill and confidence are admirable young girl. I will be sure to remember your name after I'm forced to kill you here." He charges toward Pyrrha as she uses her greataxe to chop off the dust crystals embedded into his arms.
Tyrian and Qrow battle up and down the school's hallways on the other side of the room. Tyrian takes full advantage of the enclosed space to rush down Qrow, but Qrow also uses his ability to transform into a bird to dodge and gain distance from Tyrian, allowing him to fight on equal terms. Finally, in the center of the room, Nora and Ren both take on Mercury and Emerald. Ren's ability to hide emotions allows him to resist Emerald's illusions, couple that with his exceptional skills, he can keep pressure on Emerald. On the other hand, Mercury expected Nora to be an easy fight but was caught off guard by her unorthodox way of fighting, swinging the hammer widely and tanking attacks until the hammer hits.
While the first group handled the big bads, Ruby, Yang, and Weiss were dealing with the White Fang who had placed bombs around the school. Currently, Weiss was diffusing another set of explosives as the White Fang hadn't made them complicated to diffuse. While she was doing so, Ruby and Yang were busy fightings off wave after wave of White Fang attempting to re-arm the bombs. As Weiss diffused another bomb, she worked on another but found that a snake faunus girl was already doing so.
Weiss: "Excuse me! Who are you, and what're you doing!?"
Ilia: "Names Ilia. I'm a friend of Blake Belladonna, and she sent me here to diffuse these bombs while she went after Adam. Who're you?"
Weiss: "Weiss Schnee, also a friend of Blake. Wait! She's here!?"
Ilia: "Yes...did I not say that already?"
