~~~~Mia's Point of View~~~~
"Hello?", I answer the phone.
"Mia I need to tell you something", my mom says between tears.
"What happened?", I ask anxiously.
"Your sister, Sasha died.... in a car accident about an hour ago. I didn't know how to tell you", she wails.
My jaw drops at her first few words.
"I won't be home for about another two hours, I'm so sorry sweetie", she cries.
I instantly hang up the phone. Burning, flowing tears trickle down my cheeks as I thrust my fist into the drywall. I take deep breaths and collapse onto the floor.
I frantically pick up my phone and dial Jake's number.
I pause before hitting the 'call' button. Is it really worth talking to him after what happened earlier today? But after taking a glace at the matching black Jordan's with pink rims he bought me, I realized I needed his support.
I call him.
It takes him a while, but he finally answers.
"Hello?", he says.
"Hey", I sniffle, doing my best to hide my tears, but there's not really a point right now.
"What's wrong?", he asks in a worried tone.
"My sister died", I whisper, then explode with tears.
"Oh my gosh Mia", he says.
"I'm on my way", Jake says, hanging up the phone. I have no idea how my mom is dealing with this. My dad probably doesn't even care, considering he's been in prison for the past few years due to abusing Sasha.
15 minutes later.....
My bedroom door bursts open with Jake standing there, sweaty and confused.
"Mia, I'm so sorry....", he says, heading towards me. I run up and bury my face in his chest, his long arms wrapped securely around my body. He places his cheek on my head, cause he's taller than me. I cry harder and harder. Eventually, when my tears die down, and we stand there awkwardly just hugging, we sit down.
"I would say I know what you're going through, but I don't", he says, lacing his fingers through mine.
"It's okay", I whisper, catching my breath.
For some weird reason, we don't say anything for about a minute.
"I'm sorry I was mad at you", I say, bursting into tears again. He pulls me off of the bed and hugs me tight.
"I could never stay mad at you", he says, then kisses my forehead.
"Do you want to go to the amusement park tomorrow?", he asks, smiling.
"Yea", I say smiling back. He stares at me for a while.
"What?", I ask, laughing.
"You have the biggest eyes ever", he laughs.
"okay then", I giggle. He runs his fingers delicately through my long, silky brown hair. He looks at back at me when it stops at my stomach.
The next thing you know his lips are on mine.
5 minutes later...
Jake got up and grabbed his jacket off of my bed.
"Jake...", I say before he can leave.
"Yea?", he asks.
"Can you stay with me?", I ask.
"Of course", he replies, laying down in my bed. I pull the blankets over our bodies as Jake puts an arm around my shoulder. I lay my head on his chest.
I fall asleep to the sound of his racing heartbeat. <3
