This chapter is inspired by the surprise fire drill we had a few days ago at my school. Also why is there still not a single comment on this book? 🥲🥲
Peter was in fourth period science one Monday when the fire alarms went off.
He rolled his eyes because he was in the middle of a very serious experiment, and now he would have to dump the chemicals down the drain and continue after the fire drill.
When he and his class got into the hall, however, there were students running down the hallway, shouting about there being an actual fire.
Peter's adrenaline started to spike at the thought of there being an actual fire in the school, and he looked around the halls anxiously.
He used his spider sense to see if he could smell anything. And he did. Smoke. Foul smelling smoke.
Peter began to freak out more when he saw the exit they were told to take in case of a fire was blocked off by smoke, so he and the other students in the hall turned the other way, trying to find a different route.
As he was trying to weave himself through the croud of people, he saw Flash next to him, right before the boy was slamming him into a wall.
His head slammed against it, and his head began to thump, his ears ringing.
He slumped down the wall, onto the floor, the smell of smoke getting stronger and the screaming of students making his headache worse.
His vision blurred, until it turned to blackness.
-
"...Peter! Pete, wake up! I need you to wake up for me! Can you do that, Pete? Please?"
His voice was familiar, but Peter wasn't sure why.
He started to hear a beeping in the distance. There were other voices. Many voices. He heard crying.
He finally opened his eyes, squinting at first from the harsh lights.
"Peter!" Multiple people said at once, causing his headache, that was just beginning to register in his mind, to worsen.
He looked around, his vision becoming clear, and noticed that he was, once again, in the medical wing of Stark Tower.
In there with him were some of the staff members, Tony, and Aunt May - who had mascara running down her face.
"You're awake!" She yelled, going over to his side and hugging him tighty.
Tony was already at his side, and Peter realized he was the one speaking when he first became conscious.
"What happened?" Peter asked, hugging his Aunt with shaky arms.
His voice was very gravely, and his lungs and chest hurt really bad.
His question don't get answered though, because Tony was having everyone back away from him.
"Friday!" The man called, "Scan Peter for updates."
"It appears he has a headache, sir," Friday told Tony quietly, "but everything else is the same. Would you like me to lower the lights?"
"Yes, Friday, lower the lights," Tony said, his voice now quiet, too.
"Mr. Stark, what happened?" Peter asked again.
"There was a fire at your school, Pete. Do you remember that?"
Peter thought back to earlier that day at school, and the vague memories came flooding back.
He nodded to Tony, "I remember. What happened after that?"
"Well," Tony started, "I think you must have tripped, or someone may have stumbled into you during the chaos of trying to get out of the building, which caused you to hit your head and pass out. The responding firefighters found you inside and took you out right when I was getting there. That's why you're here instead of a normal hospital.
"I had Friday scan you while you were still unconscious. You have a minor concussion, and you have a lot of smoke inhalation, which is why your voice sounds like that. You also have a burn on your leg. We've got it in a bandage though. With your healing abilities, however, it will probably be healed by tomorrow. How are you feeling though?"
Peter thought over how he was feeling physically, "well my chest hurts a lot. My throat is sore. And my head hurts pretty bad."
Tony nodded, "Alright. We'll let you get some rest in just a minute, kid. Just a few more questions. Do you remember what happened that caused you to pass out?"
Peter did remember now. Flash had purposefully pushed him.
Peter nodded, "Yeah, a student was running past me and he accidentally ran into me. I tripped and must have hit my head on the wall. Why was there a fire?"
He skirted past the question, hoping Tony wouldn't ask further about it. He didn't need his Aunt or anyone else knowing about Flash right now.
"There was a cigarette in one of the bathroom trash cans near your classroom. It cought on fire since it hadn't been put out properly. It spread very quick. Your school is working on finding out who did it right now. You won't have school again until next Tuesday. Go ahead and get some rest now, alright? We'll talk more about it later if you want to, but right now you need to sleep so you can heal."
Peter nodded, "would I be able to go to my own room, though?"
Tony nodded, smiling slightly, "of course, kid. Let's go."
The staff bid him goodbye as he left the hospital wing, Aunt May and Tony helping him to his room.
Once he was settled in bed, he smiled at the two.
"Goodnight, honey," Aunt May said, kissing Peter's forehead.
"G'night," he said back, smiling at his aunt.
"Night, kid," Tony started, putting a hand on Peter's shoulder, "don't do that shit again. I almost had a heart attack when I got a call from your school about the fire."
Peter laughed slightly at that, grinning at the fact Tony cared about him, "Good night, Mr. Stark."
Once they had left, Peter sighed contently.
However, he wanted to see Ned and MJ, and he was also wondering how Tony had gotten a call from his school about what had happened.
