A few days later...
Sam's heart was racing as he continued at a steady pace along the sidewalk, clutching his camera tightly in his hand. It wasn't just the energy of simply running to get to this said location for his YouTube video, but there was excitement in waiting for his mate to find him before getting to said location. That excitement thrilled his wolf, made him want to shift into his white form, and sprint off in the hopes that his mate would pin him to the ground.
He made snide comments to the camera about Colby, knowing his fans always enjoyed the banter between them. Sam liked it more when Colby was actually there to respond to him. It was the only equivalent to flirting they could do on camera. He could have called out to Colby through their mental link, but the pair promised not to use it for this "Man Hunt" video, along with their phones.
Besides, they would be reunited soon and Sam could repeat his words to his mate.
In the meantime, Sam continued running, trying his best to navigate the Los Angeles urban landscape. He admitted he was proud that he could figure out where he was. After all, he was the Omega mate of the Alpha of L.A. With a title like that, he should know this city like the back of his hand.
It was that kind of mindset, though, that made him feel awful about Amber's situation. Granted, yes, he was still not quite happy with her and Colby's relationship (and he was learning how to deal with those feelings after his and Colby's conversation), but neither he nor Colby knew about her situation till Jake came and got them.
Was the person who bit her here with Sam right now?
Were they one of those joggers coming toward Sam?
The Omega snapped his head behind him.
Were they sneaking up behind him?
What of the hunters?
Was Lucian still here in L.A.?
Stop it, Sam! He scolded himself, Focus on the YouTube video!
Sam returned his attention back to the camera in his hand, pushing the dark thoughts of trauma from his mind, "I'm so hoping I win this game. This is my channel. I make the rules," he gave the camera a wink, "But! This also is Colby's birthday...," and he mocked a frozen expression, "Well, it will be when this video is posted. SO!" he drew out the word, "If you all could give the old man a gift and go subscribe to our duo channel, I know he will love you all forever!"
Sam made a mental note to start planning Colby's birthday out. He wanted this year to be more special than the last for his mate. He wanted his mate to forget about some of the darkness in their lives for a few moments. Sam knew Colby needed it, even if the Alpha wouldn't admit to himself.
Again, Sam was getting ahead of himself. He needed to think about beating his mate, not planning their future.
PRIORITIES!
"YES!" Sam gave out a triumphant yelp as he saw the bridge that was so close to his car, "We're here, boys and--."
"ARUGH!" a familiar voice popped out from under the bridge, giving chase.
Sam cried out, jumping out of his skin practically, as he took off up the hill. His instincts kicked in to run. It took Sam a moment to realize who it was and it was that exact moment that his toe caught on a stone, making him fall to the ground. A Nerf Gun dart hit his back at the same time.
"I GOT YOU, BITCH!'
Yep, there was Sam's Alpha mate.
"Fuck."
