~part twelve~
Summary
Armin makes an important decision and Eren wants to go back in time"Your shoe."
He looked at her protractedly and frowned. Annie wasn't sure if he didn't hear her or he just played dumb, but either way she didn't change the tone.
She tilted her head "It's untied. You are going to fall."
But he looked like he already did that. Armin squatted to tie his shoes silently and she just stared.
You didn't need to be a genius to realize something wasn't right in this rainy afternoon. Armin wasn't such a loud bother like he usually was, meaning he probably had something on his mind.
She found herself feeling a little nervous. She wasn't good at comforting people, so she didn't know what she should say. Instead, Annie leaned her back on the wall behind her and stared at her feet for a moment.
When Armin got up she decided to look back at him, his eyes already on her made her purse her lips. "So?"
"What?" He asked.
"Are you going to do your pushups or not?" The girl half seriously half worried reminded him why they were there. He opened his mouth, forming the letter "O" and sighed. Her eyes again moved away, now wandering through the school gym.
Like the night before the warm driplets stained the ground outside. Even though there was no sign of dark clouds one hour ago, it was like the sky just wanted to clear itself. They decided the strong smell of sweat was the better option.
They had to share the gym with the basketball team, so they could use just one of the corners, meaning Armin wouldn't get his practice session this time. Better than being sick just right before the special day, right? Armin didn't think so anymore.
Annie already knew she wouldn't find the right way to proceed, but she also didn't want to stay silent about it. They were friends now, weren't they? She bit her lip and crouched down in front of him, trying to not sound so hostile. "Hey."
"Am I not doing it right?" He said with half a breath, not looking away from the floor.
"You know that's not what I mean." She moved slightly and stood up completely, giving him a look. "It's around the whole school."
"Twenty four." He sat on his knees, looking up at her breathless. "And I don't know what you mean."
"Just look at yourself" she pointed at his bruised face.
If you looked closely at his face, you could spot a small bruise forming on his left cheek. It still had a light red color. Again, you didn't need to be Sherlock to find out how this happened. You only needed to listen to what people were talking about everywhere.
