I woke up to the smell of raw meat and the sound of someone playing with toys. I looked and saw Lumi playing with a doll and I saw someone pushing a cart that had a pile of meat on it. "Hello, Lumi," The boy pushing the cart said when he stopped at our cage, "You can get first pick on today's serving. We have deer, goat, and beef." "Goat please," Lumi said with a smile. I sat up and the boy noticed this and he asked me in a kind tone what I wanted. "Do you have any fish?" I asked him. "No," He said with a slight frown, "But I do have a can of sardines in my bag." "Why are you so nice to us?" I said after reluctantly taking the can from his outstretched arm, "These people hate us." "I see all of you for what you really are," He said unphased by my reluctance, "You are all people that are trapped here. I wish that I could help you all escape but I would lose my job or get killed." He then pulled out a small stuffed plush from his bag and gave it to Lumi. Her eyes lit up like stars in the winter sky when the boy gave it to her. It was a small cat plush, which was no bigger than the pup's tiny hands. The boy turned to me and noticed my glowing scales. "You look pretty," He said nervously, "Your scales." "Thank you," I said right when the Blackwatch commander came into the room. "What the hell are you doing, Ginnings?!" He yelled then he looked at the stuffed toy that Lumi was holding. "What are you doing with that toy, runt?" He hissed as he got down to eye level with the now trembling pup, "Abominations like you don't deserve to have toys." He reached through the bars and tried to take the toy away from her but I instantly grabbed his arm and held it where it hurt him just enough but wouldn't break it. "You leave that little girl alone," I hissed with rage, "or I will bite both of your f*cking hands off!" "Stop!" Lumi cried pulling my arm to make me let go of the commander, "He will just punish us!" I didn't want to cause harm to Lumi so I nodded then let go of the commander's arm. "For that," He said in anger, "You are going to the pit!" A group of soldiers came into the room and restained me then they took me to a sandpit that was littered with bones from past fights. I knew what they will have me fight won't be something that I have seen before but I knew if I failed, Lumi will be alone...
