Ellie's POV:
I looked at the burns on Kat's neck and I felt nothing but rage. I faintly heard John speak, but I didn't understand what he said. I felt the supernova rise through my muscles and reach my skin. I heard someone say my name and I felt a hand grab my shoulder. It was Owen that grabbed my shoulder but the energy that was under my skin was enough to cause him to shout out in pain. This made me snap out of my feral state and I apologized to him. "It's okay," He said after I helped him up, "Just please don't do that again." "But they hurt our daughter!" I said with anger. "Believe me, Ellie," Owen said, taking my hands into his, "I want to make them pay for it too, but now is not the time." "Hey," John said looking at a monitor, "If you two are done, take a look at this. I found the Blackwatch headquarters." I walked over to the monitor and took a look at it. "It's in Marco Island, Florida," He said, "If you want to go there, I can take you." "No," I said, "I will go alone. I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of them." "You can't go alone," Connor spoke up while working on opening a blast door, "That will be ill advised. They are thousands strong, you are just one person, even with the DX-1118-C infection, they will find a way to overpower you." "I know the risks," I said with a small growl, "They have to be stopped!" "I do agree with you," John said sympathetically, "But you can't attack them head on. You have to be smart." Right when he said this, John was shot by a Blackwatch commander. "I knew that we shouldn't have trusted you, John," The man said with a smile, then he turned his gaze to me, "Well, what do we have here?" I moved to John, but the man shot the gun again, forcing me to stop. "I wouldn't advise that, mutant," He said with disgust, "The next round will go in his head." He saw Connor reach for his gun, so he shot the android's hand, causing his blue blood to splatter on the console he was working on. "Now," The commander said, walking around the room with his gun still pointed at us, "What shall I do to all of you?" He grabbed Kat's arm and dragged her to him and pointed the gun at her head. "NO!" I yelled with anger. "One more step," He said, pushing the barrel of the gun against Kat's head, "And I will splatter her brains all over the floor." Sparks of blue and orange electricity radiated from my body as I backed up. "Mommy," Kat said with tears in her eyes, "I'm scared!" "You're going to be okay," I reassured her, "I promise." "Well, Ellie," The commander said with a sadistic grin on his face, "That is where you are wrong." He pulled the trigger and time slowed down. I could vividly see my daughter's brain splatter on the floor and I felt a part of me die. Dark took control of me because I just couldn't move, and she attacked the man with blood lust. The commander pulled a syringe out and injected me with it which shot pain all through my body. He fled the room while John, Connor and Owen opened fire on the man but he had escaped. Mercer rushed through to get to us and I could see visible rage when he saw Kat. "MOTHER F*CKER!" He yelled, punching a solid concrete wall, making a large crater in it. The pain from what I was injected with subsided and I instantly crawled to Kat. "No, no, no, no, no!" Both Dark and I cried, holding Kat's body in our lap, "I can't lose you!" "They cured her infection," Conor said after scanning me, "She is no longer infected with the virus." My arm started to feel like it was on fire but I didn't care. "John," Owen called to the assassin, "You good?" "The round didn't hit anything major," John replied, "I'll be fine." "We need to complete the mission," Connor said, picking up his AR and the key card, "I grabbed some explosives so we can destroy the entire complex." "I will go with you, Connor," Claire said, "Besides, I want to get that vaccine to reverse the virus." "That wouldn't be wise," Connor said after scanning her, "There are still trace amounts of the Uroboros virus in your system. If you cure yourself from the DX-1118, the Uroboros will kill you in a matter of seconds." Claire nodded her head then took the charges and went with Connor. "We need to get out of here," John said, putting a hand on my shoulder. I had tears streaming from my eyes as I picked Kat's body up and followed them. "I can bring her back," Mercer said. "Do it!" I cried out. Mercer concentrated his infection into his fingertips and infected Kat. Her eyes flashed orange as dark red veins appeared in her dull yellow eyes. I felt her heartbeat against my chest as we rushed to escape the building. When we made it outside, most of the Blackwatch personnel were either dead or dying, but the ones that were still able to fight, let us leave. We made it to the forest and met up in a clearing with the other Proxies. "Where's Claire?" Haylie asked Owen. He pointed towards the complex, but when she tried to rush into the building, Owen and Mercer stopped her. "We have to wait for her!" Owen said as I laid Kat's body on the grass with tears falling from my eyes.
