The Portal

After John left, I wanted to do something with Owen that we used to do. I had asked Slendy if he could put in a portal in my room that goes to a beach and that only Proxies and Owen could access. He approved of this and opened the portal. I told Owen to put a blindfold on and to follow me. I had Kat riding on my back as we walked through the portal to a deserted beach in Florida. It was a full moon out tonight as we walked on the sand. "Take the blindfold off," I said with a smile. Owen took his blindfold off and realized that we were on a beach. "Wow," He said wrapping one arm around me and letting Kat transfer over to his back, "This is beautiful." "This is the same beach that I went to when you died," I said, "This is the same beach that your mom found me." I pointed to the cross in the sand a few feet away from us, "That was where I buried my best friend, Joel." "What did you do before you had Kat?" Owen asked me. "Kat," I said with a smile, "You can go play in the ocean but please be where we can see you." "Okay, Mamma," She said sweetly. When she was waist-deep, I started talking with Owen. "When they were developing," I said, "I couldn't seem to satisfy my hunger. I had to get away from people because I feared that I would hurt someone that I cared about. So I went to the Bahamas and fed off of everything that had a pulse. I slipped up one day and there was nothing around me except humans. Your father found me and put me in a fish zoo. When I escaped, he shot me when I attacked his men. He kept things from me. I didn't want to hurt him, but I just lost control." "It's okay, Ellie," Owen said sympathetically. For a moment, I couldn't see Kat and my heart started to pound out of my chest before Kat resurfaced with a good-sized grouper locked in her tiny jaws. She then walked over to me with it and gave some to me. I smiled and took a small bite of the fish. Both of our jaws have bioelectric capabilities so each time we bite something, it sears the flesh. "Nice catch, Kat," Owen said proudly. Kat offered the fish to Owen but he politely declined saying that he would get sick if he ate it raw. Kat just nodded her head then took another bite out of the fish. I suddenly got a feeling of dread and when I turned, I saw blue and red lights pull onto the sand and towards us. The car stopped and a man came out in full police gear. "Good evening, Officer," Owen greeted warmly. "Do you know why I was called out here, Sir?" He asked in a friendly tone. "No I do not," Owen replied matching the officer's tone, "My wife and I were just taking our daughter out for a stroll when you came up to us. Is there a problem?" "I just had recent reports of a string of deadly shark attacks earlier today and your wife matches the description of the shark involved." "I was not here earlier today," I said confused. "Well," The officer said, "You and your daughter are the only look-alikes here on this beach but your daughter is too small to match so you are the only one that could be the person responsible." Kat dropped the half-eaten grouper on the sand and looked up into the officer's eyes then said in a sinister tone, "You will not take my Mamma." One of her eyes emerald green eyes were pitch black and I knew what that meant. "I'm sorry," The officer said putting his hand on his pistol and that almost made me rip him to shreds, "I may have to." Kat's skin began to spark and glow as she released a low growl and at the point, the officer had his gun drawn and pointed at Kat. Kat took a step forward and the officer pulled the trigger slightly which made me jump in front of the gun as the bullet was fired. It hit me hard in my back but it flattened against my scales. I always hated getting shot at, especially when it is point blank because it caused me to fall on the sand. "Ma'am," The officer said worried, "Are you okay?" He reached out while still pointing his gun at me and I slammed my powerful jaws down on his hand, taking it clean off. I spit his hand out after tasting coffee in his blood which I don't know why humans drink it. It tastes like motor-oil smells. The man fell back and Kat jumped on top of him then dragged him out into the ocean to kill him. "Why would you do that?" Owen exclaimed. "He was going to shoot our pup," I replied trying to get the taste of his blood out of my mouth, "I did what I had to in order to protect her." "Let's go," Owen said, "Kat! Come on!" Kat ran on the beach with blood dripping from her gills on her neck, she also had a slash mark in her snout which was bleeding enough for drops of blueish-crimson to stain the sand. Rage boiled inside of me but I pushed it down and we all went back through the portal. Kat had picked up the half-eaten fish from earlier and continued eating it after she washed the sand off of it. I instantly took my hoodie sleeve and whipped the blood from the cut while Kat protested. "Stop moving," I demanded. She stopped after I said that and her green eyes looked into mine. Owen had already gotten a bandage and some rubbing alcohol from the first-aid kit. He poured some of the strong-smelling liquid on a clean rag then started to rub it across the gash on Kat's nose. She yelped the moment the rag touched the open-cut then released a small shockwave that stunned Owen but did nothing to me. "That hurt," Owen said after he recovered, "How about you do this, Ellie?" I grabbed the rag and moved it to Kat's snout as she pulled back from me. "It burns, Mamma!" She cried with small tears forming in her eyes. "That means that it is working," I replied in a kind tone, "It will only hurt for a little bit, I promise." She reluctantly agreed then let me rub the rag on the wound. The entire time, I could feel the full force of her bio-electricity going around the room. All this did was charge my own bioelectric cells and it caused Owen to spaz out in pain. When I was finally done, the tips of Owen's brown hair were singed and wisps of smoke fluttered off of them. "That hurt way worse than expected," Owen said trying to laugh off the pain, "If you need me, I'll be on the floor." He comedically slumped on the floor and a giggle escaped my mouth. I applied the patch on Kat's snout which she was now tearing up while going over to her father trying to nudge him up. "I'm fine, Kit-Kat," Owen said playfully. I loved that nickname for Kat, and I know that both of us will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Suddenly, a very thick fog rolled in and it felt like the fog was alive. "That is strange," I said puzzled, "How did fog get inside?" We all heard a scream in the other room and my heart sunk when I realized why the fog was here...
