Chapter 17: The Final Round

1 Month had passed since Dom and Ino left the village to train for the chunin exams, during this time they had both improved a lot but before diving into them let's take a look at how things are in the village. Spectators were slowly filling up the different seats of the main arena in Konoha, most were civilians with an occasional group of single shinobi sitting there to watch as well. The contestants were supposed to arrive in only 5 minutes and stand in a horizontal line behind the new proctor named Genma, one by one the finalists arrived on the scene starting with the genin from Kumo arriving in the contestants balcony.

Up in the Kage balcony sat Hiruzen along with Ay the Raikage and the Orochimaru disguised as the Kazekage, they were making small talk while they waited for the games to begin even though both of them had their focus on a couple of special genin already now. The Kazekage was eying Sasuke Uchiha who had just come to the fighters balcony, Hiruzen had his eyes on Naruto who had followed right behind the Uchiha along with Lee and Shikamaru. The Raikage was observing his own genin, their nerves, their facial expressions, anything that could say anything about their physical and mental condition at all was thoroughly searched for. As the wait came to an end Hiruzen stood up from his chair and went to address the crowd directly through a voice enhancement jutsu of his own creation.

(Hiruzen) "Hello good citizens of Konoha and the very few from Suna and Kumo, we welcome all of you to the final round of the chunin exams were the brave and strong willed 16 fighters will fight to place as the one and only first place. Now as you can see we still miss a few people from the arena and their matches will be postponed if they fail to show up on time, if they fail to show up at all then they're eliminated. Now then, let me as Hokage of the hidden leaf also congratulate all of the genin who made this years exams, we all wish you good luck and hope you can give us all a good show!"

(Crowd cheering) "Cheering."

Everyone was present with the exception of Dom and Ino and the whole crowd were ecstatic to see their performance during the matches laid out for the day.

(Genma) "Alright now we begin the first round of the chunin exam finals, and We will start things of with our two first fighters Yugito and Karui of Kumo. Everyone else please move up to the balcony meant for you guys.

The contestants began moving up to their balcony while the two fighters stayed put with Karui having a severe case of explosive cold sweat. She knew her opponent very well and so also knew that she stood absolutely no chance in hell against her. Even if she knew of this fact though she wasn't going to give up and allow Kumo to look bad for it, no she would fight to the bitter end in order to show the absolute best of Kumo's fighting spirit off to the other nations present especially Konoha which she didn't like very much. As soon as Genma called the match started, she dashed toward Yugito before she could do any techniques, the feline container was as such forced into a fist fighting competition even though she could have done without it.
Karui kept the fight going for some time while trying to come up with any particularly good strategies for this battle which could show off Kumo in any way. Doing this she was caught off guard by the solid fist that smashed against her face and sent her skidding across the battlefield, clutching her face in pain was all she could do as the force would have been enough to break her nose had it been struck.

After a few seconds she stood tall and began going through hand seals before releasing her jutsu "Lightning Style: Shock pillar!", from her hands released a small lightning bolt into the sky and caused several bolts to crash toward Yugito. Said female easily dodged all of the attempts of shocking her with ease, though she barely noticed Karui having drawn her slightly elongated duel Tanto blades from her back and rushed her with full speed. To someone like Yugito the speed was very slow but the momentum of surprise over such a move being used was enough to catch her off guard. Though not quite enough to enable Karui to land the intended attack, before she could do so Yugito extended her claws on both hands and blocked the slashes.
