"Happy 18th Mila!" Dinah sang as Camila walked through the doors of the coffee shop, she had been called in to do the closing shift at the coffee shop on the birthday, poor Dinah had been the one who had to break the news to Camila that she had to work after all.
"Thanks D," Camila sighed as she made her way into the back room of the coffee shop. Camila felt deflated, she had chosen to ignore Ariana's advice and leave out any mention of her birthday to Lauren and she was living to regret it. However she hadn't actually heard from her girlfriend in a little under a week despite her constant attempts to get in touch with her so she figured Lauren wouldn't care anyway.
"Why so sad?" Dinah asked, following Camila into the backroom.
"It doesn't matter... It's just I haven't heard from Lauren all week and-" Camila began to explain to her friend as they walked out into the main building. She was cut off however by the sound of her girlfriend blowing into a noisemaker, a bunch of sunflowers in one hand and the strings of eighteen balloons in the other, the noisemaker hung slack from her red lips as she blew into it again. Camila hadn't moved from where she stood, as though she'd become stuck to the floor of the coffee shop. A massive grin stretched across her lips and her heartbeart began to hammer wildly.
"Happy Birthday baby," Lauren said, an infectious smile on her red lips as walked toward Camila, holding the balloons high in her hand and the sunflowers close to her chest. Camila reached up and took the noisemaker from between Lauren's lips, she set the odd little object down on the counter and placed both hands on the side of her girlfriend's face, pressing her lips affectionately against Lauren's. Lauren smiled against Camila's lips, her hand letting go of the string of the balloons as she moved to run her hand around the back of her girlfriend's neck. The balloons floated to the roof, filled with helium. Camila's eyes fluttered open and she studied Lauren's face for a long moment before she spoke.
"I'm the luckiest girl in the world," Camila breathed, the wonder so clear in her chocolate brown eyes. Lauren smiled, a blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"Well that can't be right... I thought that was me," Lauren smirked, pressing a kiss to the tip of Camila's nose.
"Well your luck is wearing thin at the moment, because I have to work..." Camila sighed, her forehead falling against Lauren's.
"I'm afraid you're wrong again," Lauren replied, biting down on her bottom lip. Camila raised an eyebrow at her girlfriend. "I knew I had to disappoint you a little first if I wanted this to be super sappy, just the way you'd like it, so I employed Dinah as my trusty helper," Lauren explained, shooting a wink at Dinah who smirked, holding up a twenty dollar bill to the light.
"She had to pay you?" Camila asked, shooting a glare at Dinah.
"No, but what seventeen year old kid is going to turn down twenty bucks from a girl like goldmines over here," Dinah laughed, pointing to Lauren who placed her hand under her chin to exhibit herself. Camila laughed at her, the sound captivating Lauren entirely.
"Hey we better get going, we've got a timeline to work with," Lauren grinned, grabbing the strings of the balloons.
She held out the sunflowers to Camila who smiled, a blush filling her cheeks, and took Camila's free hand with her own. Dinah smiled after the two, shouting her goodbyes and drawing as much attention to them as possible. The inside of Lauren's car was filled with rose petals, and Ed Sheeran blasted from the speakers. Camila felt like a princess sitting in the car next to Lauren, listening to her favourite songs surrounded by the petals of beautiful flowers. Lauren held Camila's hand the entire drive, the pair of them never speaking but acknowledging the others presence with longing gazes and the sound of the others singing voice as they sang along to 'Thinking Out Loud'. When they pulled up outside what looked to be an empty mansion Camila was certain Lauren was going crazy.
