The sunlight was falling from the sky; the faint oranges faded to pale pinks and lilacs as the muted blue sky fell to navy blue. The school grounds were lit up by the flood lights around the football pitch, Camila had assumed they were going to watch the Independence Day game from the bleachers; She had been wrong.

Normani was crouched down, twisting a bobby pin inside of the lock. Camila was shifting her gaze anxiously, not calming until Lauren's hand found the small of her back, her lips leaning in to whisper in her ear,

"We do this every year, it's okay.."

She was sure this was breaking some sort of law, they didn't even go to the school anymore and yet still they broke in every year to watch the Independence Day game that the football team would organize annually without fail. After the game people would roll beer kegs onto the field, fireworks would be set off, and the party would begin; But Lauren and her friends never attended the party, they were 'much too cool for that'. The lock clicked open and Normani clapped triumphantly, sliding the bobby pin into the waistband of her cotton shorts before wrenching open the door of the school.

"Aren't there cameras?" Camila asked nervously, biting down on her bottom lip.

"Camz... It's summer break, in the middle of the night- Do you think the cameras are still on?" Lauren replied, raising an eyebrow at her.

"I don't know..." Camila mumbled, "I usually don't break into schools at night so,"

"Chill out Mila," Ariana called out to her from the front of the group, Camila wondered when Ariana became so comfortable with the activities that her new friends got up to. She wondered when she'd became so uncomfortable with it.

"I'm sorry all right, I'm not used to breaking the law." Camila retorted.

"Oh what? And we are?" Lauren laughed, "Camz, we're not doing anything wrong..." She added, lacing their fingers together as the group hit the stairs, led by Ariana and Chris who were surprisingly confident in the situation. Xavier was giving Vero a piggy back up the stairs and Ariana was skipping next to Normani, the two girls having linked their arms. Lauren was guiding Camila at the back of the group, a bottle of Malibu in her free hand.

"Hey do you guys remember the year that Tristan streaked down this corridor?" Normani laughed, recalling the memory as she looked at the locker that was still busted up from where he'd run into it three years ago.

"How could we forget?" Lauren replied, tightening her grip on Camila's hand when the brown eyed girl began to shy away from her.

"And back when you two started dating..." Normani continued, in reference to Vero and Xavier, "And we caught ya'll getting frisky in Mrs Adams classroom?"

"We remember," Xavier smirked, nudging his girlfriend with his hip, the group burst out laughing.

"I wish I never left this place," Chris sighed, recalling his transfer to the school that Ariana and Camila attended.

"It was your choice to go elsewhere," Lauren shot back.

"But hey, I got to know your girlfriend before you did so..." Chris teased, shooting Camila a wink. It wasn't strictly true- Camila and Chris had never actually spoken before she'd started dating Lauren, she always figured Chris Jauregui was above her in the social hierarchy. She ignored the information and nodded along, the girl growing nervous again as Normani began to pick the lock that would lead them up to the roof.

"You're shaking," Lauren whispered, her green eyes sparkling with concern.

"I'm fine," Camila commented quietly, avoiding the intense heat of Lauren's gaze.
