Lauren sat on the wall by the beach sipping a lemonade from a straw, she had no classes today and intended to take full advantage of her class free morning. She wore high waist black shorts, a black crop top and a grey beanie. Ally, a girl from Texas she knew from youtube was meeting her at the beach and they were going to head over to the music shop and make a video for Ally's channel. Lauren had had just started her channel and had a small following but somehow Ally had found one of her videos and hit her up about filming a collab when she was in Miami visiting friends with her "not boyfriend" Troy. Ally strolled down the promenade in a pair of denim shorts and a white flowy top. When she saw Lauren she broke into a run. Lauren hugged the girl tightly, this being the first time they had officially met even though they'd been messaging about it for months.
"Hey! It's so greet to meet you!" The tiny girl enthused in her texan accent.
"Finally," Lauren laughed, linking arms with the shorter girl. "So what do you think of Miami?" She asked, her tone casual and light.
Ally smiled, "It's definitely different,"
"Good different?" Lauren inquired, raising an eyebrow at the Texan.
"Absolutely!" Ally enthused, a beaming grin on her lips.
"So what kind of song were you thinking we should do today?" Lauren asked, addressing the business side of their meeting.
"I was thinking something sort of chill... I want people to really hear your tone in the cover, you know? And then I was thinking we could do a challenge video or something on your channel so they all have an immediate incentive to check you out?" Ally suggested open-endedly, her eyes meeting Lauren's questioningly.
"Well I think all this," Lauren said, motioning to her body, "Is enough of an incentive to check me out," She joked. Ally laughed, shaking her head at the confident humour of the younger girl.
"You wanted to know what drew me to your cover, right?" Ally asked, causing Lauren to nod in agreement. "It was the way your eyes communicated with me, you know in the thumbnail? They just exercised such confidence that I just sensed you had something to be confident about..." Ally answered honestly. Lauren was overwhelmed by the positive praise from this amazing talent. "Now that I've met you I see you clearly think you have more than one thing to be confident about."
"No honey, I know I have more than one thing to be confident about," Lauren winked, biting down on her tongue cheekily.
"Sure you do," Ally laughed, shaking her head at the younger girl.
Ally and Lauren continued to talk absentmindedly about themselves for the remainder of the walk, conversation only ceasing when they arrived at the local music shop where Lauren worked when she found the time. Although time was something Lauren rarely had, juggling college, her youtube channel, softball and a social life was not an easy task and she found it difficult to find time for the work she so vibrantly enjoyed. Thankfully she had found a true friend in Wesley, the original store owner's son who had taken over the business when his Father sadly passed away, and he rarely complained about her sporadic work attendance.
"Hola papi," Lauren teased the boy behind the counter, leaning up to give him a casual kiss on the cheek.
"What can I do for you today Miss Jauregui? Perhaps you're finally going to do that shift you promised you'd do two months ago," The boy joked, mockingly bowing in front of her. "You look stunning today by the way," Wesley added with a cheeky grin. Ally raised an eyebrow, looking between the two of them. Lauren shook her head, a smile on her lips.
"Oh stop it, you're making me blush," Lauren giggled, pushing the boy back his shoulder. "This is my friend Ally, and we were wondering if we could set up a little acoustic cover set right now?"
