Camila sat in her AP English class with a pen trapped between her teeth, her eyes fluttering closed every few moments. She was disappointed in herself, she loved this class but after working yet another early morning shift at the coffee shop, she was absolutely exhausted and could barely focus on a word Mr Conner was saying. Her thoughts drifted to the day she had finally learned something about Lauren, the first time she'd touched her porceline skin, and once her thoughts had fallen on Lauren, they were gone for good. Lauren had come into the coffee shop ten minutes before the end of her shift that day, all black t-shirts and skinny jeans. She had ordered black coffee, as strong as Camila was willing to make it, and sat in the corner booth. She had cheesily written her number on the back of Camila's hand and once she had drained the cup of coffee the girl had made for her she had driven her to school. That was the morning she learned that Lauren could sing, and fuck that girl could sing. Camila had stared at her the whole way to school as she sang Arctic Monkeys songs at the top of her lungs. She just looked so beautiful with the sunlight hitting her face as the words of "Knee Socks" fell so huskily from her red lips. Camila was snapped back to reality when she felt a vibration in her pocket, had it been any other day she would have ignored it and gone back to enjoying Mr Conner's lesson but today was not any other day, for one, she was bored out of her mind in her favourite class today, and secondly, Lauren was picking her up from school today because they were going to hang out at her house. A lazy smile formed on her lips as her gaze scanned over the message that appeared on her lock screen, her eyes focusing on the ID that read 'Laur' with a kissy face emoji after it.
Laur: Stop thinking about me sunshine ;)
Camila felt as though her heart was going to beat right out of her chest right there in class, she failed to understand how the girl was so goddamn confident, and how she managed to know just when Camila's thoughts would turn to thoughts of her green eyes and her red smile.
Camila: Stop distracting me. I'm trying to learn.
Laur: You were exhausted this morning, even if you were trying to learn you wouldn't be taking much in.
Camila: I'm taking you in aren't I?
Laur: If that's what you desire sunshine ;)
Camila broke into a low laugh, drawing Mr Conner's attention to her.
"Something funny Miss Cabello?" Mr Conner asked with a cocked eyebrow.
"Nothing Sir," Camila said compliantly, smiling her sweetest smile at him.
"Just try to pay attention, please," He continued, sighing at the younger girl. It looked as though Mr Conner was just as exhausted as she was and perhaps this is why Camila was so bored, because her favourite teacher was too.
She could feel the electricity vibrating across her skin when she so much as thought about what her new friend was implying. Lauren had an extremely dirty sense of humour, and possessed the outstanding ability to turn anything Camila said into a sexual implication and it was killing her more and more every day. At this point Camila had accepted that Lauren would be the death of her, if not because of her sense of humour or brazen confidence, it would be because she was unable to return what Camila had felt for her from the first time she laid her eyes on her. The girls had been steadily talking for about a week now and they had become very fast friends, yet still they hadn't hung out outside of the coffee shop. Lauren came in almost every morning now to order her body shakingly strong coffee and if Camila didn't have a shift she would distract Dinah and Nela from their work trying to find out as much as she could about what Camila was interested in so that she could be the best person for her that she possibly could be. Camila wondered if Lauren really thought Dinah and Nela would keep word of her questions from Camila, or if she was hoping they'd tell her.
