CHAPTER TWELVE:

I was out there for a while. But I finally got a hold of myself and headed back into the house. See, the funny thing was, I woke up feeling amazing, and now, I didn't even want to be on the planet. I avoided the feeling in the pit of my stomach, and the little voice that encouraged me to call him. He would have to call me.

Mother was in the kitchen and already making dinner. It was a bit perculiar, because mother hardly ever put so much effort into dinner. We usually ate simple meals that didn't take too long to prepare. She was a doctor and obviously didn't have the time nor the energy to cook great meals after a long day at work.

I had just closed my bedroom door when my phone vibrated. I stared at it for a while before deciding to check the message. A part of me hoped that it was from Ashton.

"So, let me get this straight. You got angry because he has to go to America before the tour?" She asked. We were sat on my bed, listening to Ed Sheeran and eating ice cream.

"Well, when you say it like that it makes me sound like a bad person."

"But there is no other way to put it." She said matter of factly.

"I fucked up, didn't I?"

"Kinda, yeah. Ashton really likes you. You need to apologise and work through this." She advised.

"He's mad at me."

"You don't say." She said sardonically. "Call him."

"What if he doesn't pick up?"

"He will eventually. You can't both be stubborn. Call him." She urged.

"Okay, okay. I will." I said, eating another spoonfull of ice cream. She stared at me. "What, now?" I asked and she nodded, throwing my phone at me. "Well, not while you're here." I mumbled, and she made no move to leave the room.

"You're gonna tell me what happens, anyway. Might as well hear it for myself."

I sighed because I knew she was right. Scrolling through my contact list, I found his name and dialed. He didn't pick up. I huffed and looked at Cassidy, who only encouraged me to try again. I did so, and there was still no answer.

"Told you he wouldn't pick up." I muttered.

"Try again in a few minutes."

"If he wants to talk to me, he'll call."

"But you want to talk to him too..."

"Fine. I'll try again." I groaned, dialing his number again. Just as I was about to hang up, he picked up.

"Yes." He said wryly.

"Ash, it's me."

"I know."

"Why are you being so cold?" I asked.

"I'm not."

"You're just-"

"I'm in the studio right now, and I don't really have the time to talk. Can you get to the point?"

"Uhm, well .." I trailed off, looking up at Cassidy for encouragement. She mouthed to me that I needed to apologise, and I sighed, knowing that was what I needed to do. "Look, Ash, I'm sorry about earlier. I know you're mad-"

"I'm not mad. But I need to go. Bye." He said, hanging up before I could say anything else.

"He's mad." Said Cass.

"No kidding." I sighed.

"I say we need more ice-cream." She said, holding up her now empty bowl.

"So, what's the deal with your brother?" I asked once we were back in my bedroom after getting more ice-cream.

"I don't know. Once Ashton decides that he's angry, he's angry. Ever since dad died a few years back, he's been a very emotional person. He feels things to the extreme. Even the smallest things can set him off." She explained. I wasn't quite sure what it was that I was supposed to say to that. "He'll be fine." She said reassuringly once she realised that I would not be saying anything. I said nothing still and continued to eat my ice-cream. "Okay, enough Ed Sheeran. I think he's depressing you. How's One Direction sound?"

"I don't have any of their albums." I said and she gasped.

"You can't do that to me! I am such a Directioner! Those boys are literally perfect!" She said, and I rolled my eyes. "I am going to school you." She decided.

"Do you really have to?"

"Louis Tomlinson! The oldest member in the band. Born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire." She started.

"Oh god."

Cassidy teaching me about One Direction was, in a funny way, kind of relaxing. I thought of nothing. Not even Ashton. Nothing. She went on and on about how they simply weren't given enough credit for their actual singing talents because of all the media attention.

"I mean, have you heard how amazing Liam's voice really is? It's like a thousand angels reside in his throat. Let's just forget about their faces here for a second. I mean, you can't really listen to faces. You listen to the music." She rambled. But I understood what she meant.

"I know. Its kind of like how I fell in love with Andy's looks before actually hearing his music. But then I heard the music and thought, how amazing are these guys."

"Who's Andy?" She asked.

"Andy Biersack from Black Veil Brides. He is perfection."

"Never really heard of him." She admitted, and it was now my turn to freak out.

"Now it's my turn to school you."

"Do you rea-"

"Andrew Dennis Biersack was born December 26th 1991."

"Oh dear goodness."

Author's Note:
Hi there.

So I realise that this chapter is a little boring. It is only a filler chapter, and I thought that it would be nice to see the differences between Cassidy and McKenzie. Cass is like the ray of sunshine, while Kenzie kind of reminds me of a dark cloud. The music of One Direction and Black Veil Brides is so different, I though that it was relevant to illustrate how different, yet similar the two are.

The next chapter will focus a little more on McKenzie and family, and maybe even reveal a bit of her past. If I can maybe get just two votes on this chapter, I will put the next one up.

So, please, if anyone with actual thumbs is reading this, please vote so I know that at least someone is reading. Only two votes, and I will continue. I don't mean to sound demanding.

So ...uhm yeah. Hope you're enjoying the story, yeah? At least two votes, please! Do it for Ashton!
