Getting Closer

The car wasn't as awkward as I believe or what Scarlett was trying to convince me of. Chris was very talkative and made me feeling extremely comfortable in his presence. "Before we get up to the gate, if you want, I don't mind you following me like a lost puppy."

"Like you have a choice. I only really know you and Sara. Your brother already wants to bite my head off.", I chuckled as we arrived to the gate. He smiled at me after putting in the code to get in, "You have an amazing reputation with our family already. You'll be okay but I'll keep around you."

We pulled into the typical rich area. Limestone mansion with a beautiful fountain to complement the front of the house. Everyone's high dollar cars sitting outside as Chris pulls his Alfa Romero Giulia. Not exactly the most expensive car but it definitely was a model I couldn't dream about having any time soon. "I feel broke now", I shifted in my seat as Chris chuckled once more. "You have your own business as this is family bonds. You work for your riches as ours was handed to us. Don't feel intimidated by us. Some may be feeling intimidated by you."

We parked and headed into the house.

I met Sara's mom, Shanna and she was as sweet as honey just like Chris. They're were all welcoming excluding Chris' brother who just gave me the silent treatment. We were all sitting at the table, going on about our life and what we plan on doing for the future. I then excused myself from the table to go to the bathroom. "The one upstairs is better. Second or third door I think.", Sara smiled at me. I return the smile, "thank you.", then started to go up the stairs.

I decided to solve where the bathroom was by going to the second door, I open to see a few canvases with the most beautiful floral patterns on them. The colors blended so well with each other as the story that was being told was clear as day. "You're in the wrong room"

I jumped to see Chris's brother standing there. Still a familiar face with no name.

"Sorry. I was trying to find it but I wasn't told which specific door to go through so i tried them all but got distracted by theses beautiful paintings. I swear I was going to close the door and carry on if I didn't get sidetrack."

"You like the paintings?", he gave a confused look, "Like them? They're gorgeous."

He seemed a bit happy at my comment, "Those are my drafts.", he motioned at the notebook on the desk as if he was inviting me to look in it. I was hesitant as it may have been a trick or a test that I would jump to snoop into this boy's work. "I don't like opening other people's work. You know? In case there are pages I'm not allowed to see.", he just stared at me with an unreadable expression. "Wow...usually people are jumping to find out what's in my notebook."

"Drafts are kept to the artist until it's perfect. But the paintings.....If you don't mind, I would really love to have some artwork in our salon if you're up for it.", he seemed to not believe what he heard. "Um...sure. But I'm assuming you would want something else than flowers". I shrugged, "you can stop by our salon and see what would look good in there. I trust you have good judgement."

I wasn't gonna let a little tension in the past keep me from getting this boy's dream more on the railways. Chris helped Scarlett and I's dream come true. It's my turn to help at least Chris's brother with his dream. "I don't deserve such kindness. Especially from you.", I shrugged once more, "Water under the bridge."

He chuckled a bit then went to the desk and flipped through his sketchbook then showed me a page. It was the back of a woman with a neatly braided bun in her hair, writing in a book while standing by a river. "This is one of my favorites as it's an author using the river as an inspiration for her book. But I'm mostly proud of her hair and I think I can do this on a canvas and get it to you soon". I nodded and then looked at him, "Of course. it is no rush. I'll definitely pay you and there is no time limit. But you're more than welcome to come to our shop and get some ideas if you need them."
