Chapter 24

Keira's POV

"Are you coming home with me?" He suddenly asked me so I looked at him and stared, later I avoided him and then spoke.

"No, just stick to the plan. I'm still staying at my penthouse and you can go back to your normal life." I said sounding professional. He frown and I continued.

"The wedding is done. The things we need to do is come together to put a show if needed for the media and of course for my parents. You can start working on expanding in Europe, that's the reason for all this right. Yeah, that's it, your free Mr. Vigilanco." I said and I put on my shades then walked to the car but he suddenly grabbed my arm with a furious face.  What is his problem now?

"What?" I asked, starting to get annoyed with him again.

"Really, Keira? That's it? We're back on treating each other like strangers?" He asked, frowning at me and I removed my sunglasses to see him eye to eye.

"What are you talking about? We're always like that" I said still a bit laughing.

"What happened to the island? We had fun with each other, isn't it? It was just nothing for you?" He asks again, I rolled my eyes at him before I spoke.

"Oh come one, you know it's only an act because someone is spying on us on that island. It's not a big deal." I said, his jaw tense and I knew he didn't like what I said then I turned my back on him. I felt pain when I said that to him and I don't know why. Maybe because I knew in myself that it wasn't acting for me, I was in my true self on that island. I'd really have fun with him.

But no, I can't do it I'm not letting him, because I know in the end I'll just get hurt. So it's better to prevent it before I finally fall for him because I can feel it if ever that we extended our stay there, I maybe start to have something for him. Honestly, I do feel something towards him and it gets worst when we were on that island. I'm scared because I know what kind of a man he is. And I can't just let myself fall into his trap and get hurt by falling so hard.

I need to protect my heart from him. I can't take any pain and betrayal towards a man again. I can't. And I'm sorry.

I got in the car but he didn't come with me, he got in another car. Well, it's better this way. ‘You’re doing the right thing Keira’ I said to myself.

When I arrived at my penthouse, my employees greeted me immediately.

"Congratulations on your wedding Ms. Keira I mean Mrs. Viglianco. And welcome back ma'am" She says with a big smile, that's Grace the manager. I was also greeted by others and I said thank you to all of them and they returned to their jobs. Then Grace spoke again.

"Hmm, Ma'am are you here to get your things? I can take care of that for you" She said, I shake my head then spoke. I got nervous, I forgot my people will gonna know that I'm still staying here. But guess what I'm the boss and I'm gonna use my perks of being a boss.

"No need Grace I can take care of it" I just said. Maybe I'm gonna find a house somewhere because I can't live here anymore, my employees will see me, that's still a problem.

She nods and said "Okay Ma'am, just call me if you need some help getting your things" She said with a smile. I nodded and walked to the elevator to go up to my penthouse.

I sigh. I'm really tired, I badly want to sleep already.

As soon as I entered I was greeted by a deafening scream from Kate, and she also had confetti and champagne. I laughed even though I was so surprised by the scream she made. I hug her so tightly, I'd missed her so much.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her immediately when I pull away.

"What do you think? To surprise you silly." She said with a teasing laugh. I laugh too then she drags me to sit beside her.

"So, you know what I'm waiting for, gossip!! What happens? Did you do it? Did you do it??" She says super excited. I groan and rolled my eyes at her.

"Kate, besides us you are the only one who knows what's the true score between me and him. And sorry to disappoint you but we didn't do it." I said then I pour some champagne for myself, I don't drink champagne it's too strong for me but right now I feel like I needed it.

She sighs sounding so defeated, I just shake my head.

"Keira, why not give it a try?" She said suddenly as she also grabbed champagne for herself.

"Kate" I scolded her.

"Just try, I'm not saying you to force yourself to do it, but just try. You know, don't you?" She said trying to convince me. I sigh.

"What if I get hurt in the middle of that 'try' you're saying? I can't Kate." I said with a sad voice. She side hug me.

"You know, loving someone can hurt you, it's a fact. But the happiness that comes with it is priceless too. I know someone hurt you before, but please don't stop trying to love someone again. What if you were going to be happy with that person? Isn't it worth it to risk your heart again?" She said while looking at me, I just stared at her and listened and she continued.

"I'm just saying that try and give it a chance, and try not to fall too hard while trying so that it doesn't hurt too much if you failed" She said with a laugh, so I hit her but she laughed even more.

"Kidding, but really give yourself a chance to try it" She said again in a serious and concerned tone. I smiled at her and hugged her. Sometimes it really makes sense to talk to her.

"I'll think about it" I replied to her when I looked at her. She nods and raised her glass.

"For your chance at love again. Cheerssss!" She said out loud so I laughed and we cheered and at the same time consumed the contents of our glasses then laughed at the same time.

I'm gonna get drunk tonight, and I'm sure of it.

In the morning.

I groan when I woke up to the sound of my phone, someone is calling me. I tried to get my phone at my bedside table while still half asleep. My headache, hangover is worse. Arggh!

When I finally found it I answered it immediately without knowing who the caller is.

"Good morning honey! Are you still sleeping?" I heard my mom's voice to the other line, I smiled a bit.

"Morning mom, yes I'm still sleeping" I said sounding so tired.

"Oh, our princess must be so tired. It's almost lunch" I heard my dad say, I laugh a bit. I missed them. I turn around and groan again.

"Honey are you okay?" My mom said worrying.

"I'm fine, just a hangover" I said not minding my words.

"Hangover? You're drinking? With who?" My mom said showering me with questions.

"Relax mom, I'm with Kate she's here at my penthouse" I said and was a bit sleepy again but I suddenly woke up the next thing she said.

"Why are you in your penthouse?" She asked, because of the intoxication I was confused by her question.
