I was half awake when I heard the howling cheers of Joey and Andy, and the calming sooth of Jay's voice telling them to be quiet.

"Guys shut up! You're going to wake her! She didn't sleep well last night!" Jay covered my ears but I could still hear.

"Whoa, what did you guys do?" Andy joked.

"Ha-ha very funny" Jay said sarcastically

I groaned and leaned into Jay. He put his hand on my head.

"Okay, what the hell do you guys want?" Jay asked

"There is a sick-ass party tonight at the college!" Andy sang

"Yeah! And you, and your girlfriend's skinny ass are going!" Joey said matter-of-factly

"I don't do parties" I groaned against Jay's hand.

"Yes you do!" Andy threw a mini basketball at me.

I looked up and threw the ball back at him. "No, I don't!"

"Come on please! If it's lame we'll ditch!" Andy reasoned.

I looked at Jay.

"It might be fun" Jay shrugged

"When is it?"  I said looking back the other boys

"Tonight" Joey answered

"Oh my God, okay. Let's go" I caved

Andy and Joey celebrated but hollering and whooping.

"College party! Colleges girls!" Andy high-fived Joey.

"Oh my god you guys" I shook my head, but I couldn't help but be amused by them.

"Hey! I have an idea so that both you guys can enjoy this party to fullest!" Joey began

"What's that?" Jay asked

"How about, you guys break up for this one night so that my man Jay here can hook up with some hot college girl ass! And of course you can get a college guy too Allie!"

My mouth flew open.

"Alright, Get out!" Jay jumped out of bed.

Andy and Joey laughed.

"Joey that is the most stupid idea you've ever had!"

"Oh come on! It's one night!"

"Out!" Jay pushed the guys out the door and slammed it shut.

He rubbed his face and covered his eyes "Joey is such an idiot"

I laughed "yeah, really"

He came back to bed and climbed over top of me

"You are my only" he whispered

"Good" I whispered back

He leaned down and kissed me

"So much better than a college girl" he breathed.

"Damn right!"

The party started at 10 o'clock, and it was 9 o'clock. And the butterflies were already running a marathon in my stomach. I stood in front of the mirror in Jay's bathroom. I stared into it.

What was I doing? Going to a party when my dad was in the state that he was?

He needed me. He would never say it, but I know he did. Just like he needed my mom while she was alive, just like I needed her now more than ever.
