Kemani

I laughed. We were just around the corner from my mother's house. We were having our monthly bar-b-que & I thought it would be the perfect time for them to meet my woman. Well momma & my brother-in-law. She delivered my nephew so she already knew my sister.

I pulled up in the driveway.

"Kemani. Where are we?" She asked.

"Baby just get out." I say.

"Why you playin?"

I laughed.

I got out & walked to her side of the car to let her out. She wasn't locked in or anything its just chilvary. And besides she has on 6 inch heels so I had to help her clumsy ass out of the car.

"Come on baby." I took her hand.

She followed me looking crazy. I was laughing inside because she had the most confused look on her face.

"Ma!" I called as I walked in with my key.

"Ma?" She replied

The look on her face was priceless.

"Ma!" Kemani said.

"Ma?!" I replied.

Oh he got me good. I had no idea I would be meeting Kemani's mother! I was not prepared. I wasn't dressed well enough. Okay Armani just be calm. Just be yourself. Smile. Say yes ma'am & no ma'am. Don't sweat it. Its just his mom. You got this.

Alright that wasn't working.

An older woman who looked to be in her 50's came in.

"Hey baby." She greeted him.

"Hey momma." He hugged her & kissed her cheek.

She looked at me.

"And you must be Armani. I've heard so much about you. She's beautiful son." She said while hugging me.

"I know ma." He said.

I winked at him.

"Thank you. Nice to meet you ma'am." I replied.

"Call me ma. Everyone else does." She said.

"Yes ma'am." I said.

"Son why don't you go on upstairs with your sister & nephew. Miss Armani & I will be alright alone for a few minutes." She said smiling.

I looked at Kemani. He gave me the thumbs up sign & blew me a kiss.

"Come on baby. Set your purse down & come help me in the kitchen." She said.

"Yes ma'am." I said.

"You're so respectful. Its not very common here." She said.

"Well my granny didn't play so that's what I was raised to do." I said smiling.

"So how did you too meet honey?"

"Its the funniest story actually. It all started when I backed into his car......" I started.

Hundreds of jokes & laughs later we were finally done with the chili beans, potatoe salad, & we had baked 2 cakes. Her & I had even went to the store & grabbed ingredients for my famous Cajun Jambalaya.
