“It’s good to be back” saad ni shaud sa sarili habang nakahiga sa malaking kama ng lumang kwarto nya at nakatitig sa ceiling nito.
Nasa 7th floor ng ClemVer. Building ang kanyang kwarto at nasa 10th floor naman ang opisina ng lolo nya na pinanggalingan nya kanina. Makakaiglip na sana ito sa pagkakahiga ng may kumatok sa pinto nya kaya’t muli syang bumangon upang buksan ang pinto.
“Here’s the new sheets and some blankets” iniabot ni Dex ang mga tela kay Shaud
“Thanks” she said.
“You alright?” he queried while looking at Shaud from head to toe.
“Nah, just mentally exhausted I guess” pinatong ni Shaud ang bedsheets at blankets sa kama nya at naiwang nakabukas ang pinto kaya’t pumasok tuluyan si Dex.
“let me brew you some coffee,” offer nito okay Shaud
“No thanks, sa pagkaka-alala ko the last time you offered help, may ginawa kang hindi inaasahan na nagdala sakin sa sitwasyon na ‘to. Pano kung nagstay na lang ako sa orphanage at sinabi ng buong puso sa mga awtoridad na hindi ako ang maygawa nun dahil magdamag akong nasa sariling kwarto at nagpipinta edi SANA hindi nila iisipin na guilty ako kase hindi ako tumakas at hindi rin SANA ako na-iistress ng ganto noh?” inis at nakapamewang na sagot ni Shaud.
“I got no plans now, Shaud. Perhaps you should thank me for bringing you here, no one would believe your alibi even if you kissed there feet”
“Alibi? I am telling the truth! I don’t need an alibi to back me up ‘cause I’m purely In-no-cent”Shaud made an emphasis on the term 'innocent'.
Dex heaved out a sigh, “ You’re missing out an important piece”
“Whatever!”
Dumeretso na si Dex sa mini-kitchen ni Shaud na puro alikabok ang mga kasangkapan dahil matagal ng hindi nagagamit. May sariling electric stove at maliit na fridge ang kwarto ni Shaud na pinupunasan ni Dex habang nagpapakulo ng black coffee.
“You know what he said?” Shaud said opening up a conversation after minutes of awkward silence.
“What?” Dex replied,
“I can work on the field again. Magiging superhero na naman si ate ghorl char, haysst iba talaga pag maganda..” aniya sabay haplos sa kanyang mahabang buhok.
“pero hindi yun mangyayare hanggat ako ang nadidiin sa isyung ‘to, tsk”
“And what if you fail?”
“Nega naman nito, well uhm, he said nothing about that and I also forgot to ask”
“You’ll be fine” Dex reassured as he sensed anxiousness on Shaud’s face
“Anyways, I have a week pa naman to prove my innocence and I’ll do whatever it takes” Shaud grinned on the thought that she caught the real suspect.
“ And I needed some of your connections to do that” dagdag pa nito ng ilagay na ni Dex ang dalawang tasa ng kape sa lamesa na nasa gitna ng L-kitchen ni Shaud.
“Should I help you with that?” pang-aasar ni Dex na kinataas naman ng kilay ni Shaud
“You owe me one remember?” she retorted.
“So what’s your plan?” Dex inquired as he sat on the kitchen stool habang patuloy sa pagpapalit ng bedsheet si Shaud. Wala masyadong kagamitan ang kwarto nito maliban sa malaking higaan, cabinet na gawa sa kahoy, small desk na napapatungan ng lampshade nya at isang kulay orange na sofa na nakatapat sa floor-to-ceiling na bintana ng kwarto nya.
