Jiang Cheng had to attend MengYao's baby shower. Da Ge was family and not going would be bad on their end. MengYao wasn't counting on seeing his ex there either.

It was a small party organized by Huaisang for the baby. Being the Uncle he tended to lord his opinion on MengYao. The latter often took it, minding that Minjue didn't want them arguing every day.
After hours of unwrapping gifts and eating cake out of diapers, they finally got to the exciting part.

" I want a girl!", Huaisang was bold. Zhen blushed instantly thinking of the possibility. Like Yanli and Qing, they too decided to enjoy their marriage, leaving the attempts to make babies later. They were young and had a lot to discover about each other.

"Nope, this is Minjue's first baby we're talking about. It's going to be a boy.", Nie Minjue chuckled when Jiang Cheng made that comment.
"Sect Leader Jiang, what makes you say that?", the discussion did reel in a good memory.

Jiang Cheng, " Take a look at the Nie Clan family tree, how many females have your ancestors made?", the omega smirked. " How about this, let's make a bet."

"A bet you say?", Minjue inclined his head. Suddenly everyone in the room went silent as if they had become invisible. Lan Xichen and MengYao exchanged glances, a little salty.

" Yes, Master Nie...If it's a girl, you can ask a favour from me. Anything at all.", Jiang Cheng said.

"And if it's a boy?...", Nie Minjue raised a brow.

Jiang Cheng, "If it's a boy then you have to make Lan Xichen and I the godparents."

Xichen turned his neck."What?"

" We get to babysit and take him on play dates.", now that was an odd proposal.

"What the...", Nie Huaisang gulped down a glass of champagne, feeling threatened by that request. Why is Jiang Cheng trying to steal his brother's baby from him(Huaisang)

Nie Minjue scratched his chin. "That's a good deal...but my mate will have to give his consent to it before we gamble.", Minjue turned to his spouse. MengYao was caught in the spotlight. He fumbled, trying to process this. " Umm, if Master Jiang and Master Lan are willing then I give my consent.", MengYao smiled nervously at Minjue.

"Your wish is my command.", Minjue kissed the omega's hand before turning to the others. " Alright Master Jiang, challenge accepted."

"Then let's pop some balloons!", Huaisang was getting impatient.

The crowd cheered and got right to it. After several pops and 'ouus' and 'ahhhs', the couple got the right one, revealing a dazzling sprinkle of blue glitter in the air.

" Congratulations, but I won!", Jiang Cheng did jubilate. Everyone laughed and shared in the couple's joy.

As the party continues, MengYao approached Jiang Cheng.
"Can we talk?", he grinned slightly.

" Sure.", Jiang Cheng agreed after checking in with Lan Xichen. The alpha was more worried that MengYao would throw more dirt on his name.

The two slipped out to the balcony where it was quieter.

"Just to make things clear, I'm not going to listen to any crap you have to say about my husband.", Jiang Cheng snapped at the host.

'A classic grinch', MengYao found it amusing. "That is not why I wanted to talk to you. Thank you for tonight."

"Don't thank me, I'm only here to support Nie Minjue.", Jiang Cheng folded his arms.

" Look, I'm sorry for what I did to you years ago. I had no idea you were pregnant. Even so, it was wrong of me to lose my temper to that extent.", MengYao drew closer.
