Fixing The Cracks

A Year Later...

The crew gathered in Wangji's home to celebrate little Mingji's birthday. Just like he did for Yuan, Wei Ying tried his hands at another cake. This time Wangji got the backup in advance in case the omega failed- he did. 

The party was a success. Mingji was as happy as a child should be, not lacking the love and warmth of a stable home. Lan Yuan carried her around a lot but she loved being in her father's arms the most. Lan Wangji tried not to spoil his daughter but like most parents, he couldn't fight it.  

Zhen got another round of deserts for his heavily pregnant omega who grew the tendency to sit get on everyone's nerves. Jiang Cheng and Xichen were their passionate selves as usual. 

"So...when is the wedding? It's almost been two years since the two of you got together," Huaisang probed.

Wei Ying lowered his eyes shyly, stroking the tip of his glass. He heaved a sigh and smiled as he looked up, "Well, Wangji and I are still getting to know each other."

Huaisang, "Come on, what will it take for you two to finally tie the knot. Look, even Wen Ning is engaged. And we thought our cinnamon would convert into a monk."

"Pfft, dont be ridiculous. Ignore him, Wen Ning," Wei Ying chuckled. 

Jiang Cheng, "Tch, why would he want to get married when they're already doing it like rabbits?"

"Wanyin," Xichen squeezed his partner's hand. 

"What, I'm only saying the truth.", Jiang Cheng winked at his mate. They've been giving each other a lot of love recently. 

"Actually...Wangji and I...Wangji and I have never been intimate since we got back together," Wei Ying pursed his lips, his cheeks turning crimson.

"What! Not even in your heats?" The crew did not buy that till Wen Ning clarifies that Wei Ying is always at BaoshanWei during his heats to resist any temptation.

Huaisang, "Wow."

"Dont overreact. As I said, we're just trying to get to know each other as we should have in the very beginning.", Wei Ying turned his neck to spy on the Second Jade, who was making sure the birthday girl stayed clean. He smiled as he made eye contact with Wangji. "You know what?" Wei Ying nibbled on his lower lip. "I used to be afraid that Lan Wangji and I were too broken to be fixed. But these few months things are beginning to feel normal again... and I've gained more confidence in us. I believe we will work. So I've been thinking a lot...and, I want to propose to Lan Zhan this year- on his birthday.", Wei Ying hid his face as he turned to his friends. 

Lan Wangji did not know why the crew began to cheer for Wei Ying but he was glad the other was having fun. 

Wei Ying, "Shhh, dont cause a scene. This is supposed to be a secret. Or do you think it's wrong, should I wait for him to propose first? I do not want to pressure Wangji into this." 

Jiang Cheng, " Not at all, you're both men don't let the secondary gender dictate to you. And Im pretty sure Wangji will love such a surprise, isn't that right Xichen?"

"I agree, my brother deserves such a treat.", Xichen kissed his husband's hand. 

After the party they all departed, leaving Wei Ying and Lan Wangji to deal with the cleanup. Thank heavens for the servants. Wen Yuan came for his sister right after she fell asleep. "Let me tuck her in.", he let his parents take a break. 

"You did an amazing job today," Wei Ying slid his hands in his back pocket as he strolled toward Lan Wangji. The alpha caught him by the waist and reeled him in. Wangji pecked Wei Ying on the lips and played with his hair. "You too," he said.
